The ex-girlfriend of X Factor singer Ethan Boroian has admitted that the ITV show caused their relationship to break down.

Physics student Jane told The Mirror that she also got insanely jealous of Ethan’s new friendship with fellow X Factor contestant, Stacey McLean.

“Ethan was the perfect guy – handsome, sexy, exciting and romantic,” Jane told the newspaper. “But after he went on to X Factor it was clear things were just not going to be the same.

“I felt like I was competing for him with the biggest show on TV. And constantly hearing about how well he was getting on with all these beautiful girls, like Stacey, just made it worse.”

Jane added: “It was really hard when he went into boot camp. When he came back, it was obvious he had really bonded with other contestants because they had all been through the same incredibly emotional experience.

“He was calling his friends from the show all the time.

“When he told me stories about boot camp, I knew he was trying to include me, but it just made me more jealous that I hadn’t been there with him.

“There were a lot of goodlooking people there and I knew all the girls had been talking about Ethan – he was the hottie.

“He assured me had no feelings for Stacey, but it was still difficult to hear about it. I felt like I was being pushed aside.”

Jane said she knew their relationship was doomed as soon as his first audition on the show, became so popular.

“I knew from that moment that I was going to lose him. He didn’t want to break up with me at first and we were both distraught when we ended it.”

She finished: “I’ll always love him. Whoever has him next will be one lucky girl.”
