X Factor contestants mime Bohemian Rhapsody with Brian May and Roger Taylor
The remaining X Factor acts took to the stage tonight to perform a rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Very ambitious, too ambitious maybe. Because Rhapsody is such a long song, they picked out highlights from it, which sounded a little bit like fast-forwarding through the song somewhat. The performance only got really good when Brian May and Roger Taylor made their appearance.
The most hilarious moment had to be when the guitar solo continued whilst Brian May’s hand was still in the air. Seems the contestants weren’t the only ones miming tonight!

If Brian WAS miming, i really don’t think they would have gone to the trouble of setting up a wireless guitar system for his guitar. Brian was clearly indicating the two guitar parts comming from his left, then the right side of the stage, before continuing – these were prerecorded on the backing track. Brian would not have mimed this performance!
However, I agree – getting the twins to sing in tune, let alone in harmony, would be too much to ask. So yea, I think the singers mimed this one!

Brian My was not miming. The solo part of Bohemian Rhapsody requires two guitars to play. The second guitar is usually played live by Jamie Moses, or by the house gitarist on the occassions that Brian appears in WeWill Rock You. Brians hand was in the air indicating that the solo was comig from the left and right speakers.
I think you will find that Brian May and Roger Taylor were infact not miming but playing along with a house band/backing track, hence the guitar solo continuing whilst Brians arm was still in the air. The same thing happens occasionaly when they appear live in the we will rock you musical.
exactly! Many musicians often have a dislike to having to mime, and i dont think anyone would dare tell Brian and Roger to mime – what an insult to them! aha
Would be interested to know if the show uses a live band in the wings, or a backing track :/
