X Factor: Dannii Minogue apologises to Danyl Johnson live on air
Dannii Minogue has issued an on air apology to anyone who may have been offended by her comments to Danyl Johnson, on last night’s show.
The X Factor results show kicked off sans Louis tonight and as soon as Alexandra Burke had sang her song, Dannii used her camera time to clear up any misunderstandings over what she said.
Last night Dannii challenged Danyl, who is openly bisexual, about changing the gender reference in his song to imply that he was singing about a girl. She worded her comments badly, Danyl looked slightly shell shocked and the internet erupted with anti-Dannii action.
However on the show tonight she unreservedly apologised for anyone that may have been offended and ensured viewers that her comments were meant as a joke. She claims that she and Danyl joked about the issue before the show and insisted that she meant no harm.
So do you believe Dannii and can we now put this issue to bed?

well excuse for being offended at what was apparently a little bit of fun banter and it seems even Mr Cowell over-reacted….who are they trying to kid….Danyl’s face last night told the truth.
Erm, in response to ‘Danyl’s face last night told the truth’ – in no way was he hurt by Dannii’s comment.
Firstly, he had joked about it with Dannii before the show.
Secondly, she did not cruelly ‘out’ him – he outed himself to News of the World.
Thirdly, if you bother to rewatch the video clip, you’ll see that Danyl is upset even before Dannii makes that comment, because LOUIS says – in fewer words – that he is unlikeable and arrogant.
Even Simon said that he ‘overreacted’ and anybody older than 10 will know how much Dannii’s done for gay and lesbian rights, which is what I assume when he meant when he said she was the ‘last person’ to offend in that manner.
Danni’s comment came out wrong she had no intention of offending Danyl and she definately did not out him, he had talked about his sexuality himself. Danyl probably found it more hurtful to be called arrogant by Louis who has a cheek when he defends the Grime Twins.
It is over and done with and people should move on but no doubt the media will dine on it for days.
A most unfortunate comment by Dannii Minogue. She should stick to commenting on on stage performances.
I can’t believe that Louis thinks that Danyl is arrogant and unlikable. I think he has alot of talent and should of been taken out of the competition and given a recording deal from the beginning to make the competition fair to the others. There is alot of Talent on this years x-factor. Good luck to them all!
Dannii’s apology was pathetic… ’she and Danyl joked about the issue before the show’– private jokes are not meant for millions, especially when they’re about sexuality on a family show. Danyl’s face DID say it all! Come on… who are you trying to kid?! He was really upset!
The audience booed and even though Simon is saying now he ‘overreacted’ he still reacted that way. Plus he’s most likely saying that so the public does not completely hate one of his judges.
Danyl may have insinuated at his being bisexual in an interview but that gave Dannii no right to out him on live tv. Face it.. he was shocked.
Danyl was upset because Louis Walsh called him vile and arrogant and unlikeable not because of what Dannii said.
Danyl did not insinuate about being bisexual in his interview he openly talked about it so he cannot have an issue with people knowing, Dannii did not out him on live tv Danyl already outed himself the week before. I do agree it was not an appropiate comment but I think the whole evening had been tense with arguing and bickering between the judges and Dannii was tense and it came out wrong, not excusing her but it was not said maliciously and I think there was a lot over reaction from the viewers.
Simon was unclear about what was going on he had not spent a lot of time with the acts because he had been ill and banned from being in contact with them to stop it spreading. He was not aware of the interview Danyl gave or the conversation between Danyl and Dannii which is why he reacted the way he did and why he said the next day he had over reacted.
This has all been blown out of proportion, what I don’t understand is viewers were outraged at Dannii’s comment which was not as bad as the reaction because Danyl’s sexuality was already known, yet no-one was outraged that Louis Walsh called Danyl vile, arrogant and unlikeable and this was the remark that upset Danyl which I think was a disgusting remark to make.
I think it is so sad that some trivial off the cuff comment about some ones sexuality who had already told the media that he was bi-sexual is getting so much attention in the media, there are for more serious things going on in the world but it seems that the country prefer trivia and gossip and maybe thats the reason while the country is in such a mess.
