X Factor: Danyl Johnson ’stunned’ with bottom two result
X Factor singer Danyl Johnson, was reportedly shocked and stunned to end up in the bottom to acts last night, fighting for his place on the show against girlband, Miss Frank.
Danyl was said to be upset when he got backstage and struggled to perform his final song for the judges.
A show source told The Sun: “He looked like a broken man when he came offstage – absolutely destroyed.
“He was stunned to be in the bottom two, he thought he was the best thing on the show.”
Danyl later told the Xtra Factor that he had expected to do badly, saying: “I kind of felt it.”

For me this year’s X-factor had been so enjoyable until today. The purpose of the show is to contribute to finding Britain’s best music talent each year to present to the world. The fact that Danyl Johnson was voted to the bottom two today contradicts the good will of the show. He was, without any doubt, the best performer of last night show. It seems to me that there have been a lot of politics going on among the judges whose comments (which sometimes did not really relate to the talent/performance of the contestants) have mislead the public audience and consequently negatively impacted on their votes.
I remember on one of the show Cheryl Cole said that Danyl was cocky. Was Danyl cocky on that particular show? NO. Should the judge sit in front of million viewers and give subjective comment on the personality of the contenstants regardless whether it is true or not? NO. So why Cheryl Cole made that comment about Danyl? Perhaps she has been bitterly competing to win this year Xfactor again and used all means to damage Danyl reputation because obviously Danyl (among some other male contestants) the biggest threat to her own acts.
On the same show and after Danyl’s stunning performance, Louise Wash said that Danyl was over-confident. Confidence should never have a limit and if you believe it should have a limit, who sets this limit? Certainly not Louise Wash!
I hope the final result of this year X-factor will not embarrass Britain! I very much hope Danyl’s confidence will not be affected by the destructive comments of Cheryl Cole, Louise Wash and the destructive press about Danyl. If British audience tries to push you to the bottom, Danyl, the world outside of Britain will embrace you whole-heartedly.

the show if he was sent home.

Totally agree. Danyl has been superb every week – the ONLY contestant I would pay to see. I haven’t the foggiest where all this ‘cocky’ ‘arrogant’ ‘unlikable’ stuff comes from – to me he just comes across as a confident passionate performer. The media and the judges have a lot to answer for, as soes the ‘Great’ British public and their weird motives for voting. I too vowed not to watch X Factor again if Danyl got voted off – Cheryl Cole showed how political and nasty she is by refusing to vote for the obviously better performance.
All Danyl does is yell. His sound is so unenjoyable and almost unlistenable. That’s not to mention the fact that he is completely disingenuous. He just puts on a show for the camera. I don’t really care who wins the X Factor so long as it isn’t Danyl. I hope he’s gone next week.
Last night proved to me, two things. 1. Democracy is a bad idea as people are obviously stupid and 2. Cheryl shouldn’t be a judge. Why did she send it to deadlock when Danyl’s final performance was far better than the others? For me, he was the second best performer yesterday, after Lucie. I really hope the twins get out soon; I can’t stand them, but the x-factor producers won’t want all of Louis’ acts out so quickly so it won’t happen. Why do people vote for Lloyd? He is an average singer, Rachael was better last night, but won’t win the show. Joe’s OK, but not good enough imo and if J&E win, it’ll ruin the x-factor.

I actually got excited about the possibility of Danyl being voted off. I don’t see what people see in him: I haven’t enjoyed any of his performances since the first and think he is overrated (he shouts, overdoes the performance, and I don’t think is a likeable character).
Agreed there are other’s that should be off before him (even though this is based on overall performance … not just singing), but he’s not a top 3 contender in my book. He will get through because of the hype, and because the voting is not an objective exercise.
I agree with Sat. I find Danyl to be such an obnoxious character. His performances are over-rehearsed Karaoke routines — especially the obvious party-piece he brought out again for the sing-off. I think that’s what the nation is picking up on; a nauseating, self-absorbed character who would trample over anyone’s feelings to get his way. I’ve felt that way since the beginning, so it’s more than the impact of stories in the media. He’s just odious.
I live in america and i watch this show every week on YOUTUBE because i saw a clip of Danyl and thought he was amazing. and he still is… i think Lucie Ollie Stacey and Jamie are also good, but Danyl is just great. I would pay to see him perform. If I could vote I could- if he gets voted off I would just stop watching.
No mark, Danyl doesn’t just yell.
He has an incredible tone to his voice in the quieter sections of his songs, it just so happens that a lot of his songs do have these louder sections – and the fact alone that he is willing to take these sections on AND nail them at the same time is something really impressive.
If you watch his Holding Back The Years performance, you’ll see an example of this tone to his voice when he’s not singing loudly.
The only reason that wasn’t well received is because he decided to try something different – when everyone else is getting slated for not being original enough.
I just think he’s being treated completely unfairly, he sings his heart out every week, he doesn’t deserve this when the likes of Lloyd monotonously mumble through a song and get through no questions asked.
Britains Public is in great danger of once again embarassing themself with the rediculous way in which they vote for the contetants on these So Called “Talent Shows”. I am stunned at the Final Contestants chosen for this years show and it is so very clearly obvious this year already that there is only one person who will have any chance of competing in this current day Music Industry and It is Danyl Johnson. No other act has the ability to follow or compete against the likes of Leona Lewis, JLS, Alexandra Burke in the Charts.
A talent show where you have In my opinion the most powerful man in the World Music Industry, who knows the industry inside out sitting next to a Girl who is supposed to be a pop star who Cannot Sing, struggled to perform live and knows nothing about the music industry a woman who has NEVER been a pop star, has lived in the limelight of her Sisters Fame and also knows nothing about the Music Industry and finaly a middle aged, boring Irish Man thats had nothing in the Industry sinse Boyzone and Westlife judging contestants who are learning and performing songs LIVE every week. Simon can say what ever he wants as he knows exactly what he is looking for and knows whats good enough and whats not and Ok Louis Walsh can critisise the contestants but how can Cheryl Cole critisise anyone when she couldnt even perform her OWN single Live without having to mime cause she was so nervous? Its all very bizzare to me.
The X Factor is all about the contestants, their hopes, dreams and careers. It is getting more and more about the ego of the 4 Judges wanting to have the winning act so as to think they have won over the other 3! The truth is they get nothing out of it when one of the acts they are mentoring does win. There comments to the contestants about, MEDIA stories have nothing to do with their performances but every week, Cheryl and Danny find some way of bringing them up to influence the public vote. As for Louis, his comments to Danyl on week one were APPAULING to someone who is an every day, guy next door, hard working individual who is trying his heart out to make a difference to his life by winning a competition that is looking for someone who has the X FACTOR, correct me if im wrong but does that not mean, CONFIDENCE, TALENT, ABILITY not to mention a Great SINGER AND PERFORMER??? To sit and shake his head at the guy for the whole time he spoke to him was down rite rude.
Danyl Johnson has the ability to do Britian proud in the Music Industry, he has self taught himself all the basics about Stage Performing, how to WOW the audiuance and conduct himself like a Music Star. He has the ability to be out there in the charts posting number 1 records NOW, not 12 Months down the line like Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke who you heard nothing about after their wins untill the next years X Faxtor as they had to be moulded into Pop Stars as yes they were good singers but not natural born Performers.
The Point is the producers of the show have big big descisions to make as I certainly dont want to watch the likes of John And Edward, or Lloyd (who is less than average at singing) every week, im looking for quality as you get with every act in our friends across the water in American Idol. The producers need to look at the way the show is structured by means of the Judges they use, the “mentoring”, the bitching between the judges, the fact that the contestants live in the same house which is a Media minefield as storys are always going to be created about splits and fallouts between over 20 starngers living together in a house, and finaly the way in which the voting is conducted.
If that is the 12 best acts Britain has we could seeing the end of the X Factor very very soon.
The reason he was in the bottom two was that not everyone thinks he is amazing like Simon and Danyl himself does. Danyl fans seem to think that because they think he is an amazing singer everyone else should, they also cannot see his faults. There are lots of people that do not like Danyl’s singing or his personality and I personally think he is arrogant which is why he was surprised to be in the bottom two. Cheryl is as entitled to an opinion as Simon is and she does not have to choose to save Danyl just because his fans think he is the best people have different opinions. People vote for who they like best so obviously there are a lot of people who don’t think Danyl is as good as some of you and they are entitled to that opinion without being insulted. I hope that Danyl does not win the show and lets remember as well as being able to sing you need to be likeable, have the X-Factor and for me Danyl does not have this.

I’m from America so I can’t really vote, but I just don’t find him like-able. I mean, Danyl was in the papers for being cruel to other contestants and telling them they weren’t going to win. I think he’s a bit arrogant, so maybe being placed in the bottom two humbled him a little?
Honestly I love the twins, they are so entertaining. I know its a singing competition, but you have to admit they are hilarious. I’d vote for them if I could. Personally I think Lucie and Joe should be in the finale, Rachel is so much better now (I’m really liking her) and I like Jamie Archer too. Stacey is a bit boring and her voice is like Lloyd’s, sweet and simple, but nothing great. Sorry to say this, but I don’t think Danyl will make it to the finale. He’s too cocky and I don’t think Simon can market him like he can with Olly. Who will get the public vote because he’s good looking and likeable.
Anyone else who slags of Danyl needs to get there ears waxed.
