X Factor: Diana Vickers Still Had A Voice On Bonfire Night!
X Factor contestant Diana Vickers was too ill to sing on last week’s Saturday live show.
She contracted Laryngitis and was advised by throat specialists to abstain from speaking or singing until it cleared up, however fans of the show are said to be furious after viewing this video clip showing Diana shouting and yelling on a trip to bonfire night.
Diana has explained herself in a statement released today saying:
“I felt under the weather all last week but didn’t want to miss out on the fireworks display. On Thursday I saw the doctor and was given antibiotics and the following day was diagnosed with Laryngitis by a Harley Street specialist.”
“Up until Saturday afternoon, I was still hoping and praying that I would be well enough to perform but the producers spoke to the doctor who made it clear that I could risk long-term damage to my voice. I was absolutely devastated to be told I couldn’t perform on Saturday night and disappointed not to be able to meet Mariah Carey.”
“I am due to see the doctor again on Friday so fingers crossed I will be able to take part in this Saturday’s show”

The producers are kind to let Diana rest her throat and to participate next week. But what makes it so sure that Diana would not be the one who is voted off if she had participated last Saturday? Absence cannot be used as qualification.
To remedize the situation, the producers could have let everyone pass through last Sat’s competition. Let 2 contestants be voted off this coming Saturday instead. Then it is fair.
If Diana sings a Mariah Carey number this week will that apease the doubters?

Going to a bonfire night does not mean she was not ill. Haven’t you ever felt unwell one day but still gone out and then the next day feel 100% worse because the illness has fully developed. Ruth and Alex had throat bugs that lasted a few days and they carried on as normal, maybe she thought thats what she had,she is not a medical expert and it had not been diagnosed at the time. I think it is just the media trying to stir things up. Why would she fake it, people did not think she would be able to sing Disco she was the best, then they said she would not do Mariah Carey I think she would have managed it and been better than a lot of the acts, the only one who excelled last was Alex. Instead of having a go at Diana for being ill, people should concentrate on why weaker acts are still in and good acts going home.

I cant believe they actually showed that clip of her screaming at the top of her lungs on the xtra factor. As soon as I saw it i was thinking “What, i thought she was so sick she couldnt even get out of bed?!!!!”. They should have known there would be a backlash. I am really missing Austin, his cuteness,his adorable charm and his phenomenal talent. Also, I really thought that him and Laura should have been in the top 3! What is going on this year, it has never been like this! Next thing Alexandra will be voted out and then the show will officially be a joke. I am sorry but I really dont think Diana is talented at all. Her voice is weak and limited, her hands in the face all the time is so annoying, and her bushy hair and blotchy skin wrecks my head! What is special about this girl? The only reason she is “unique” as they say is coz, unlike most of the others, i.e. Austin and Laura, Diana is out of her league in this show. And just coz she managed to reach some of the higher notes during disco week doesnt mean that performance was good. The judges are lowering the bar for her, for some reason. FOR GODS SAKE, she satdown for the entire thing, and it was a DANCE song. AUSTIN HAD THE FULL PACKAGE. Why is there so much media coverage of the Laura White petition, but none of the Austin Drage petition. His was there first!
If one person can’t sing on the show, then they should not be exempt from being eliminated. Its not fair on the other contestants. Diana should have been kicked off the show or else x factor should have been cancelled and start fresh again this saturday. so that everyone is able to sing.
I think Diana is rubbish. She is not modern, but strange. It hurts me to listen to her sqwarking attempts. She definitely would not have managed to sing a Mariah Carey song and should be made to sing one of her songs this week just to see. She is not popular – I don’t know anyone who likes her or her voice at all. We all think she is strange (in a weird way, not a nice way) and want her gone. There should be an extra show where Diana, Laura and Ruth have to compete as the bottom three and let us vote on who we want to stay. DIANA OUT!! LAURA BACK!!
I don’t think Laura should have gone out on Saturday, she is by far one of the better singers. It’s not fair that she has gone. I think Diana would not have done well on Saturday as her voice and Mariah song would not have mixed, her voice is horrible, anyone can sing down their nose and go on the x-factor – her annoying hand movements is not pleasant to watch at all….and I think she should wear flat shoes, better than none at all. I think they should bring Austin and Laura back and vote Diana and Rachel off, as her voice aint that great either. DIANA OUT…LAURA BACK!
Diana is amazing.. she didn’t need to fake it because she would have most likely stayed in anyway.. but then again maybe not. Laura shouldn’t have went, or Austin it’s a complete joke this year. Daniel had to go.. there’s something seriously wrong. I can’t believe he’s even in the top 12. Rachel is only good at certain songs, Diana has surprised loads of people each week, she could’ve pulled off a Mariah Carey song just like she pulled off a disco song. Bring Laura back and get Daniel out.
And anyone that says Diana shouldn’t have been excused is an idiot becuase if Laura or any of your favourites had got Laryngitis and wern’t excused.. you would’ve been moaning.

What on EARTH IS GOING ON! Laura has one of the Best Female voices that has been on the X Factor.
RACHEL the Crack Head should never never be there, Rachel is an out of control Pot Head, OK she said that that`s all behind her but the posse of so called friends are still there.
I bet all the dealers in London are Voting for Rachel, she is going to make some Very Good Money on the X Factor tour and then she can afford the DRUGS at the High end of the Market!
Not in a Million years could an agent, Manager or Recording Company try to control her! THIS IS WHAT VOTERS! Should be thinking about!
Also on a sadder note when Rachel starts back on the White Lines, Brown and Mary Joe the 2 Children that she has managed to hang on too they might be put in care, And all this for a singing Competition.

I can understand why some people rather like Diana. She is not a run of the mill copy of Mariah, Celine, Whitney, etc.etc. and I suppose she can be seen as “different”. But different does not mean good!!I have thought right from the very start that she had a fakeness about her. She produces this cuteness and little girl lost air about her which seems to attract the voters. But in reality, surely people can see that she cannot sing very well, she misses her notes and then produces the most irritating squawk at the end of each note! Somebody commented that this sounded like Kenneth Williams and I certainly agree with that. What are the public and more importantly, the judges thinking, when they say she is amazing? Tolose singers far superior to her has almost lost me the will to live! So come on public, and judges, be fair to the others or make a complete mockery of this “talent contest”. I do not personally know of one person who likes Diana. She may be a nice young girl, but I and many others would not buy her album unless I wanted company for my cat – who sounds just like her when he is crying out for his food! Alexandra is incredible and should win this contest hands down. She is the best singer this show has produced since Leona Lewis won it.
