X Factor Fans Are Shocked And Surprised To Say Goodbye to Maria Lawson!
It seems as though no one expected Maria to go, certainly not the X Factor studio audience who boo’ed Louis when he announced he was sending her home, and later The Conway Sisters as they were interviewed by Ben Shephard for The Xtra Factor. And if you read this blog post or this it would seem that the general public were as shocked as the studio audience!
Maria was one of the shining lights in the X Factor competition. She didn’t just sing, she shone! She owned the stage, and looked as if she belonged there and she knew it. Her song last night was certainly not her best, but her performance was still outstanding and better than many others who are still in the competition.
It certainly seems unfair that Louis would choose The Conway Sisters over Maria just because he knows them and they have worked with Westlife before. It is unlikely that The Conway Sisters will get much further in the competition, they have been in the bottom two acts before so obviously they are not inspiring the public to vote for them. As Sharon Osbourne said the X Factor competition should be about talent, not what country you are from or who you know better.
My predictions on who will win the competition are all up in the air now as I really believed that Maria had an excellent chance of at least making it to the finals. I’m hoping now that Brenda and Andy can last until that stage, but you never know what will happen next week!

I agree! Maria didn’t deserve to go…she was by far one of the best. The shows called X Factor but yet still they have cheap imitations like Chico and The Conway Sisters who should have gone out a long time ago. I don’t think these people have no talent but they let the standards drop by a mile. It’s a shame that Louis made such a poor descision as everyone thought Maria had the talent to go far.

Louis seems to be going mad this year. he is picking awful songs and making really bad choices, I hope they don’t ask him to judge next year!

I just can’t believe what is happening in this year’s x factor. What on earth are the public doing voting for the likes of chico - yeah ok, he is funny but come on - he wouldn’t last 5 mins in the real world of pop!!! As for Louis, to be honest I think the Judges are just out to get each other this year … not fair at all …. really felt for Maria, but then again she will go far even though she got kicked out last night, i would be very surprised if she didn’t get a record deal!!!

I think Louis voting Maria off the show was a tactical vote on his behalf. With Maria gone, whom by the way would have been a major threat to Louis’ ”Shane”, It just leaves the door wide open for him to go on and win it and for Louis to be the top mentor. I feel this was the main reason and not the Irish factor as Sharon so openly claimed.

Sharons comments to Louis about the Irish mafia were totally unacceptable. I dont think that the Conways or Maria should have gone last night Chico is a joke and to be honest some of the other contestants arent all that either. However racist comments will only serve to make sure every Irish person now votes for the Conways whether the think they deserve to go or not. I will for sure. Come on the Irish Mafia give Sharon a shock vote tactically

I don’t think Sharons comment should make people vote for an act which lacks in talent. People should be voting for the best act, not the one with the best story!

I was deeply shocked at the result as well as Maria was definately down as one of my top favourites to win the show. Although to be honest its probably a blessing in disguise as i think it will do her more good than harm not winning the show - just look at the success of Will Young, Lemar and Liberty X.
I think the producers of the show for next years Pop IDOL should consider letting the final vote to be decided by the studio audience than the mentors as its getting rather vindictive now and would make it alot fairer for the individual acts.
