X Factor final 12: Melanie Masson & Jahmene Douglas shine in ‘Read All About It’ as ratings hit series high! (VIDEO)
The X Factor final 12 were finally revealed last night and at the end of the drama filled episode, the lucky contestants were featured performing Emeli Sande’s ‘Read All About It.’
It was a nice surprise in a series which, despite many so called ‘twists’ and shocks, has more or less followed the formula set in previous years of the ITV show.
Standing out for us were the huge notes hit by both Melanie Masson and Jahmene Douglas and we think that after watching the clip, few could deny that in terms of big voices, these two singers are leading the way in the competition.
It was a successful week for the X Factor team, as it has been revealed this morning that the final 12 reveal attracted the highest number of viewers than any episode this year.
Over 9.5 million people tuned in for the final look at judges houses, in which Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa chose their final 3 singers for each category, as well as one act to face the public vote and stand the chance of winning one remaining place on the live shows as a wildcard contestant.
The show peaked at over 10.6 million viewers between 7:40PM and 9PM and the average viewing figure was 9.5 million.
Bosses will be hoping to retain this audience as the live shows start this Saturday night and their cause may be helped by the fact that, for the first week at least, there will be no clashes between The X Factor and rival BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.
During their 2 hour 20 minute long special all twelve contestants will take to the stage, the wildcard will be revealed and both Leona Lewis and ne-Yo will perform on Sunday night’s results show, in which the first act will be eliminated.

Jahmene, my best
Leona Lewis is going to have to go back to basics if she doesn’t want to seem very boring against the backdrop of 12 contestants all determined to do their best. Leona did the instant “I’m a superstar” thing on the back of her first album. The results of her second album, gave her a serious reality-check. Will Leona make a real effort? We shall see.
The 12 final contestants, all 13 of them, will give very earnest performances, as always, and we may learn what they really sound like when the producers don’t have a few weeks to “tweak” their pitch. Expect a lot of 10/10 notes for effort and 1/10 for ability.
First elimination, according to public vote? Rylan. First elimination, after scientific statistical corrections demanded by producers? Anyone except Rylan…
The Jahmene Douglas fellow really shines head and shoulders above this lot doesnt he?I will be very eager to watch the show, just to see this guy progress. He really is something very special to don’t you think?
I won’t say that Rylan is the only one who can’t sing but the guy really come across as a joke more than a singer.
I think MK1 is fresh and exciting but the category is going to be all about the boybands. I predict that GMD3 will face more bottoms than Union J. They really made an excelent job on the editing now Union J are such the underdogs that it is hard not to root for them. While GMD3 sound better, they may be seem as less likable than the other boyband.
Ella and Jahmene are the front runners, in my opinion. I think Melanie is the only one who can compete with Jahmene, who is hands down the best vocalist of the competition.
