Chancellor Alistair Darling has revealed that he is happy to refund VAT paid on all copies of the new X Factor Help For Heroes single.

“I support the efforts being made by the X Factor contestants,” he said.

“In recognition of that, I’m proposing effectively to waive the VAT on the sale of these singles.”

The single is already being touted as the fastest selling single this year, if not this decade.
