X Factor: Joe McElderry and Cheryl Cole made a surprise visit to South Shields

After singing his way into next week’s X factor final, Joe McElderry and his mentor Cheryl Cole have made a surprise visit to his home town of South Shields today.

Joe received a rapturous welcome from hundreds of fans as he and Cheryl visited his old school Harton Technology College in Lisle Road. The 18-year-old performed Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ to a packed school hall.

It is thought that Dannii Minogue and Stacey Solomon will be visiting Dagenham later this week.

He must be a good role model for his fellow students and also encourage them to work hard to achieve their goals. Must have felt strange for him going back though how his life has changed in the last few months.

    Well Agnes,

Your only young once. Besides I think he loves it.

You would to if you were 19.

Personally, i think the lad has a lovely personality and a beautiful singing voice.

Just what the world needs. just what the world of music needs, the return of the singing voice and not the rapper or the street dancer.
