X Factor: Joe McElderry can’t get used to being famous

X Factor singer Joe McElderry has admitted that he was shocked by the legions of fans who mobbed him when he traveled back home to South Shields last week.

Joe revealed that he was surprised by the crowds who showed up. He told The Sun:

“They were outside my house shouting. ‘We want Joe’.

“It was like something in a documentary of someone really famous.

“I still can’t get my head around the fact that people recognise us.

“My mum looked a bit shocked.”
