X Factor winner Joe McElderry has insisted that he is too busy for love.

The 19 year old South Shields star came out as gay this weekend but today revealed that he isn’t looking for a relationship just yet.

Joe told the News of the World: “I’m not looking for a boyfriend but I would go for guys my own age rather than anyone older.

“For me it’s about personality, not looks. If I meet someone I like and get on with that is important.”

Joe’s ex girlfriend Carly Dilbert, who dated the singer when they were both 14 said that she never suspected he was gay. She admitted:

“He never showed that he didn’t like me or that he liked boys.”
