The dad of X Factor contestant Joe McElderry, has reportedly been told off by his bosses, after he used his work emails to secure more votes for his son.

Probation officer Jim, was reported by fellow members of staff after he signed off his emails with “Vote Joe”.

He was given a warning for “abusing company resources”.

A spokesman told The Daily Star:

“We’re fully supportive of Joe – he’s an amazing talent.

“But we do have to draw the line at Jim using official company communications to glean telephone votes.”
