X FACTOR: Kerry McGregor Tells How Disability Is Not A Hindrance!
X FACTOR hopeful Kerry McGregor truly believes that her disability could help her achieve her dream of becoming a famous popstar.
Kerry, who broke her back at 13, impressed the show’s three judges with her talent and was one of the few to make it through to the boot camp stage of the show.
After a stunning version of Maria McKee’s Show Me Heaven, she told Sharon, Louis and Simon of the impact her accident had on her life.
She said: “My life changed completely for me at that point because, from an early age, I had been very involved in singing and ballet and drama.
“In some people’s eyes, it could be a hindrance but in my eyes it’s not.
“If anything, it gives me all the more reason to kick my heels in and go on. I am determined and I will achieve.
“Without the music, I probably wouldn’t have the drive and passion to be here today.
“I just want to prove to people that there’s always a way forward. It’s just a state of mind sometimes.”
Judge Louis Walsh looked moved and told her: “You’ve definitely got a very good voice, Kerry. And you sang it like you meant it and I really liked it. ”
Sharon Osbourne added: “You’ve got a great voice, a great face too. I liked it very much.”
Even Mr Nasty Simon Cowell told her: “You’ve got a great voice. Good choice of song.”

disability is no barrier in the music industry.
Ray charles, stevie wonder etc.
I hope people vote for her as a recording artist, if she gets through as opposed to voting for her because they feel they have to, so she wins the series.
There are not enough people in the music industry with disability and all those I can think of are men, so I hope she makes it and gets support for many years and not just during the programme.
Time will tell and I wish her the best of luck

even though I think she had a pleasant face I was uneasy with the comment she “had a great face” by sharon.
As it shows that women will be judged somewhat on their looks and physical perfection, so hence we have men sucessful singers who can have disabilities, but women have to be somewhat perfect.
No-one says stevie wonder has a great face as we judge him for his music and singing so we dont think we have to comment on his aesthetic beauty.
I truly hope she does brilliantly and becomes an international role model for all people.
