X Factor: Laura White says Rikki Loney deserved to stay

Laura White - X factor 2008
Laura White has defended her pal Rikki Loney, who was booted off the X Factor last Sunday night.
Laura, whose departure was a shock moment during last year’s series, knew Rikki from last year’s bootcamp and told stv.tv:
“I know we have just lost Rikki and Rikki is one of my friends, he is amazing. It’s so sad he has gone week two. With his talent, he definitely deserved to stay a lot longer.”
Laura also admitted that she thinks the decision to send an act home should be left entirely up to the public.
She said:
“It is a talent show so I think the public deserve to have their opinion, I think it should be on just the public vote,” Laura said.
“I think a lot of the time, the judges can often do tactical voting and sometimes it’s not fair.”

What Laura does not seem to realise is that the public does have their say and the judges are left to vote on the best of the worst. If you remove the judges’ vote, then the show will be a bit more boring and after all, this is television, not an exercise in democracy.
If it was up to the public we would probably prefer to vote the worst singer off leavimg the best singer’s in.
On the subject of tactical voting from the Judges I would agree that this is what is happening. Especially when Simon has the final say. The tactical part asks the questions how much can I make from an artist? It also asks who has the most to give?
Between Rikki and Rachel, Rachels voice with a serious regard for reserving on its strengths of volume does have more to give.
Rikki has an average voice which is great for cruise ships and cabaret nights, ultimately he could have the longest career in the regions but not in the limelight.
Becoming a member of a cabaret team or cruise ship entertainment squad is at the upper end of achievement for a regional pop singer. There is no shame in this and the fact that he has now done the X factor programme means promoters will be more keen to book him. I see him doing 60’s nights, 70’s nights and 80’s nights in small seaside theatres.
we were just at her show it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! and we got her singniture we are soooo happy
