X Factor: Matt Cardle didn’t want to share dressing room with ‘crazy’ One Direction
Matt Cardle has confirmed rumours that he refused to share a dressing room with teenage boyband One Direction on ‘The X Factor’ tour.
The former painter and decorator – who won the ITV1 reality TV show in December 2010 – admitted that while he first turned down the chance to get ready alone for the shows, the ‘crazy’ and exuberant behaviour of the lads convinced him to ask for his own space backstage.
He told BANG Showbiz: “Two shows a day is quite knackering and full on. I got there and they told me all of the male winners previously had had their own dressing rooms. But I was like ‘No, I’m the same as them, I don’t want my own dressing room’.
“But then one show with One Direction running around screaming their heads off and I said, ‘Get me my own dressing room’. Not because I was being precious, but because I’m on last and have to wait the longest. When they’re coming off stage all crazy, I’m just trying to warm my voice up.”
The ‘When We Collide’ hitmaker has also admitted that despite clashing many times during the TV series, he and Brazilian star Wagner Carillho have now patched up their differences. He added:
“Wagner and I obviously had our differences on the show but we’ve kissed and made up. Not literally, of course – but we’ve definitely made up.”
