X Factor: More on Union J & Ella Henderson’s debut albums and their soppy songs!
One Direction has better get over all their romance drama, as there is a boyband just waiting in the wings to steal their crown.
As Harry Styles battle with a will he, won’t he Taylor Swift situation and Zayn Malik lays low after being accused of cheating on girlfriend Perrie Edwards, Union J have signed their first record deal and are hoping to take the mantle from their fellow X Factor band.
The four piece group finished fourth on last year’s series of the ITV show and revealed this week that they are elated to have landed a contract with Sony label RCA.
They said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be signed to RCA. Being on X Factor was such a great experience and the perfect way for us to start our musical journey.
“Hopefully 2013 will an amazing year for us and we cannot wait for everyone to hear our music.”
The lads have already started work on their new material and are reportedly hoping to release their first single in June 2013.
RCA will know just which direction to push them in too, as they have previously signed fellow X Factor stars JLS, Alexandra Burke and Aiden Grimshaw.
Jahmene Douglas will also release his debut album with the same label, while Ella Henderson has been signed to Simon Cowell’s label SYCO.
The 16 year old singer has revealed that she is considering adding a self penned song that is close to her heart to her first record. She sang an original composition when she first auditioned for The X Factor and is hoping to have the tune that was dedicated to her late grandfather on the album.
She said, “At the moment it’s definitely on the cards, but I’m just seeing how it goes. There’s a lot of new stuff coming out of me, and I’m mixing up with the stuff that I’ve written beforehand as well.
“There probably is a possibility of me re-recording that track and releasing it. We’ll have to wait and see – I’ve got no idea what exact songs are gonna be on the album yet, but I think I’ll definitely be doing something with that song.”
There is no word yet on when the record will be released, though if Henderson follows SYCO’s normal pattern we won’t be seeing anything until the new series of X Factor launches in August this year.
That extra time suits the talented teen perfectly and she addd:
“I couldn’t just sing songs that are given to me – it has to come from me. So, there’s definitely a diary laid out and a plan, but there’s no time pressure. I’m not under any pressure to get it done by a certain date. It’s just when it’s ready, it’s ready.
“When I feel like I’ve written and got everything down that I need to say, that’s when I know it’ll be the time to release it.”
Ella is currently on the X Factor tour with her fellow finalists and it sounds like she’s enjoying the experience.
She, Union J, District 3, Christopher Maloney, Rylan Clark, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur played in Manchester at the weekend and opened in Liverpool tonight.
After the last Mancunian gig Henderson tweeted:
“Halftime #XFTOUR !! Here we Go Manchester! Last show here tonight!!! Xx u have been amazing crowds!! X”
