X Factor News: Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole duet on ‘Need You Now’ on Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (VIDEO)
Wow, as if it wasn’t enough to watch a star studded concert unfold before our eyes, we finally got to see Gary Barlow perform with Cheryl Cole tonight at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The collaboration was supposed to happen at a Children In Need concert last year, but Cole took ill and it was cancelled, so this evening the pair took to the stage together for the first time.
They sang ‘Need You Now’ by Lady Antebellum, a song which we have loved ever since it was released last year and Cheryl looked stunning in her floor length black and white gown (see the photos of Cheryl’s Minge dress here).
The X Factor judge and former show panelist sang for a crowd of 18,000 who had won tickets to the event and the crowd seemed enraptured by their crooning.
The dad of three looked as hunky as ever in his formal suit and though there were a few tuning issues during the song, we quite enjoyed seeing Cheryl back in the spotlight.
Watch the video and leave your comments about the song below.

OMG how embarrassing for poor Gary Barlow ,what was he thinking .This was more than nerves for Cheryl Cole .It is now perfectly clear that she uses vocal correction ,as her performance was terrible .I am still cringing with embarracement for everyone concerned.Gary should have picked more wisely his partner for his duet ………could ramble on forever but come on if you didn’t hear it ,you must be tone deaf !!!
Well said Angela Crawf. As much as l think Cheryl is prety, l think she needs to mime every time to avoid embarrassment. Where was Leona Lewis and Adele?
No doubt, Cheryl is a very attractive girl. However if she is honest with herself, when she listens back to her performance she must face the fact that she is a very weak “singer”. In fact to describe her as a singer, when she was on the same bill as Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boe, Tom Jones and Stevie Wonder is pretty ridiculous….
I think Cheryl is Popstar not a singer, she needs to practice live singing, nerves takes huge part of this performance, royals are watching, she is being over a year of the spotlight..etc. I feel sorry for her.
But in the end of the song she sings pretty good, only beginning was awful.
Cheryl is good dancer, she is very very attractive, she seems to be very kind person, she has good humour, she is good entertainer, she is proper idol for fans.
Lars – try listening to the performance (without vision) – it is ALL awful.
If she were really a kind person she would have given this opportunity to one of her Xfactor protegees i.e. someone with talent who can actually sing.
Yes i have listened, severall times and thats my opinion. Beginning was awful, end was ok.
She was asked to perform in that event, you don´t say no to royals, they want her to perform in that event, its not something that you can give away to somebody else.
Do you really think that would be so easy do to?
Afterall, she performs, knowing that her vocals aren´t that good, she gets all the hate for that, its not fair.
Cheryl’s performance so poor, that it would not have been considered as OK for the audition of the talent show she once hosted, never mind a global event that has only been celebrated twice in the worlds history.
I don’t think it was fair or easy for poor Gary Barlow. He must of felt like he was tied to a track as the train came screeched towards him. As shown, there could only be one disastrous outcome.
She did look great.
Once of the worst live perofrmances I have ever seen; SHOCKING.
To think that one of her jobs is to judge other peoples performances…
give her a break, she looked lovely and to be fair didnt think she sounded that bad – did anyone notice that cliff and mcartney were out of tune too?!
She did look lovely, she is very attractive and she seems very nice but that in no way excuses singing out of tune for practically most of the song.
I think “she’s a popstar not a singer” excuse is also weak as you will find there are a fair amount of ‘popstars’ who can sing.
I actually really like her, but as a singer myself, singing off key while standing in one position is in my opinion unacceptable.
