The management team behind One Direction are said to have demanded that Harry Styles split from his girlfriend Carlone Flack, because they were concerned about the effect it would have on his career in America.

Harry and the rest of the band traveled to The States last week, for some promotional performances and a guest appearance on Nickelodeon’s iCarly. They were mobbed by hoards of screaming fans everywhere they went, but bosses were said to be concerned that if news leaked out that Harry (now 18) was dating a 32 year old, it would harm the band’s chances of stateside success.

They also worried that the relationship and 15 year age gap would should industry bigwigs and a source told Metro:

‘He looks young. It does not sit well.’

It was recently claimed that the decision to split the pair up went as high as Simon Cowell and that Harry had little choice in the end, when it came to his love life.

However the singer sounded upbeat when he took to Twitter last night and referring to his 18th birthday – which he celebrated earlier this week – the curly haired cutie told his followers:

‘I feel like I’ve woken up with suddenly more facial hair and a deeper voice!’
