X Factor: One Direction, Cher Lloyd make Billboard’s 21 hottest under 21’s & JLS announce farewell single ‘Billion Lights’

One Direction and Cher Lloyd are the only two Brits to feature on the Billboard 21 under 21 list, it has been revealed.

The 21 under 21 list ranks 21 artists under the age of 21 in terms of how well their music is doing in America, how much they have toured and their social media presence. Not only are One Direction and Cher Lloyd both flying the British flag over the pond, but One Direction managed to pinch the top spot.

Cher Lloyd is placed at number 11 on the list, down from last year’s ranking of number 8, but it’s still pretty impressive that she has managed to chart two years in a row.

One Direction managed to beat off stiff competition from the king of Twitter followers Justin Bieber and twerk-tastic Miley Cyrus.

American Idol’s Scotty McCreery, Emblem 3, Lorde, Matty B, and Fifth Harmony also feature on the list.

Upon hearing the news, Miss Lloyd seemed pretty happy with the accolade, tweeting: “I’m so honoured to be on @Billboard’s #21Under21 list! XXx (:”

The former X Factor contestant who finished fourth on the same year that One Direction finished in third place, has gone on to sell over two million copies of her single ‘Want U Back’. Cher has just finished a tour of the US in which she performed material from her new yet-untitled album and she has even performed with Taylor Swift!

Elsewhere, former X Factor contestants JLS have announced details of their farewell single and Greatest Hits album.

It was announced earlier this year that the group are going to go their separate ways at the end of the year. They have a farewell tour coming up, but after that JLS will be no more. The guys will of course stay friends and be close to one another, but no more music will be coming our way following the album release. You never know, they could do a Take That-esque reunion in 10 years’ time.

The lads have announced that their final ever single release, Billion Lights will be released on November 10. The Greatest Hits album release will follow a week later on November 18.

The album, Goodbye – Greatest Hits includes hit tracks such as Beat Again, One Shot, The Club is Alive, Proud and Hottest Girl in the World.
