Louis Tomlinson has admitted that he was stunned when he found out his band had been nominated for a Brit Award.

The One Direction singer was surprised when it was announced last week that the X Factor group were up for the award in the Best British Single category, for their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’

The teen sensations are up against nine other acts for the gong, including fellow X Factor acts JLS and Olly Mrs, but have a slight advantage as the result is based on a public vote and everyone knows how obsessed their fans are.

Louis told The Star:

“I can’t believe we have been nominated for a Brit award – wow!

“Please, please get behind us and vote.”

Other songs named in the Best Single category are The A Team by Ed Sheeran, Changed the Way You Kissed Me by Example, Price Tag by Jessie J, Someone Like You by Adele, Heart Skips a Beat by Olly Murs, All About Tonight by Pixie Lott, Glad You Came by The Wanted, She Makes Me Wanna by JLS and Wherever You Are by Military Wives.
