X-Factor overcharging
If you voted during the last season of X-Factor, you are owed money.
It seems ITV has overcharged viewers £200,000.
Just how did this happen? It seems voters pressing their red button on their remote controls thought they were going to be charged 35p, but were charged 50p instead. Multiply that to the 1.3 million votes affected and you’ve got a serious accounting error on your hands.
The error was discovered during a company audit.
ITV will strive to repay anyone overcharged as well as making a £200,000 donation to Childline.
A spokesperson said: “We very much regret that a mistake was made in the red button payment systems during the last series of the X Factor and we apologise to all those viewers affected.
Were you overcharged? Want a reimbursement? Contact ITV on the freephone number 08000 63 62 63 or through the website www.itv.com/help.
