X Factor prompt fix claims as Amelia Lily is announced as winner before results revealed! (PICTURE)
ITV have since cleared this matter up for us. Read on for their official statement.
X Factor has become embroiled in yet another furore this evening. Twitter erupted shortly after 8pm, after it was claimed that an article was published on the official website, revealing that Amelia Lily had won the public vote, before the result was announced on the live show.
Earlier in the week, voting lines opened and members of the public could vote Amelia, 2 Shoes, James Michael or Jonjo Kerr back onto the series, as Frankie Cocozza’s replacement. The voting lines didn’t close until the end of tonight’s episode however an article was published at the start of the show, claiming that Kelly Rowland jumped to her feet screaming as the result was revealed and her act was given a second chance.
As the show airs live, some fans hit out, and many claimed that a) the whole thing was fixed and b) the comments about Rowland pointed towards the fact that the show is scripted before it airs.
However, fans can put their mind at rest as we have spoken to X Factor officials, who have assured us that no such story was published on the official ITV website.
The trouble occurred when broadcaster STV – which owns the Scottish ITV licences – published four videos, one for each hopeful contestant, saying each had won.
An STV spokesperson said:
‘The STV web team prepared stories regarding each contestant in anticipation of the result and due to a technical hitch, all four stories went live on our website. We would stress that this was purely a technical hitch and for this we apologise.’
That clears that up then!

This was to be expected. Brother is a west end artist – well known in music circles. Total fix. Surprising Kelly wanted her back after all slagging of x factor this girl did when eliminated.

Perhaps they saw the votes and Amelia prob had a record number high compared to other acts.. and perhaps they thought it was safe to say Amelia was going to win the vote. Idgaf anyway, Amelia is awesome. Glad to have her back on the show.
Of course those claims are right. Voting follows a certain trend. If you have 4 days to vote, after 1 days it’s quite obvious who wins, after 2 days you can take most preparations, after 3 days it’s all clear and settled down and the moment of the truth is only the official result. It’s also right that a show like this is scripted. Not from A to Z, but in general. A live show on tv is COMPLETELY rehearsed. Judges write their comments after the final rehearsals, conflicts between judges are scripted and rehearsed too and all text for press and website is written before they even go live. And after the live show they all sit together with a good meal, write new scripts and have a good laugh with production crew. That’s live television…
No I don’t believe the excuses. ITV would never miss the opportunity to humiliate the other contestants by having them all standing on the stage being voted off one by one, unless the result was pre-planned. We didn’t even see that they were in the building! It was a definite fix, boo to ITV and the X Factor, was that section being pre-recorded during the “technical difficulties”?
Absolutely bang on! Old Vt’s of the other three. No sign of them in the studio. In the past, X-factor would have milked the old contestants coming back in for a sing off. With the number of contestants left they could have even squeezed all four in for a sing off before the other contestants…and shown videos of all of them rehearsing! With the amount of press coverage this show gets, I’m sure if there were there, most papers will have pictures of the other acts arriving and leaving the show!
But the contestants were there. On the xtra factor they were all on stage with Amelia at the end
seems a bit strange alright n as far as i can remember the same thing happened with aiden grimshaw last yr. he was to appear on some show after he was voted out but they knew the date he would appear like 2 weeks before he was voted out, sounds dodgy to me.
Well, if she had 48% of the votes as they said (which she probably did as she is and always has been, fantastic), it would have been completely obvious to the powers that be at X Factor that she would be going through, even this morning. If the voting had stayed steady then all day and night, its unlikely that hundreds of thousands of people are going to ring in in the last minute and vote for everyone except her. It was only a matter of minutes. I doubt they told her this afternoon she was going back in!
When was Graham Norton Show recorded? – Kelly Rowland is a guest and it was said on that show that Amelia Lily was coming back and Graham congratulated her so is that not another clear indication that this is a fix
Just read on BBC website that Granham Norton show is actually recorded on wednesday evening so Kelly knew before the phone lines were opened?????????
Well X factor has been fixed for years just because they nearly got caught out for being fixed doesn’t mean you stop watching it oh what it does because they no longer put good singers on all they do is put shit people on to make good tv which its not its shit
Amelia is an amazing singer, but you can tell its obviously going to be fixed because “nothing can go wrong?”
Well I suppose that means we shall be having Complaints to Offcome so No doubt there will be another Investigation about the Rigging of phone votes. This programe just goes from Bad to worse. I say its time to pull the Plug on it now. Will they ? Will they Heck cause Mr Cowell loves all this Contraversy cause it means every ones talking about the show and it make good reading in the News again on Monday morning.
If Amelia wins the series, it would be totally unfair. I don’t get the rules. It should have been those eliminated acts from top 12 to be brought back.
The voting WAS rigged because if you play back Fridays Graham Norton show Kelly reveals who was coming back to x-factor
I thing ITV should be investigated over this matter as people were paying to vote !!
Maybe if im really pushed in to it, I might belive that 4 stories had been prepared for each of the four contestants, and they were accidentally posted on Twitter. However that would mean that at the time of writing “The sixteen year old singer wept tears of joy” hadnt actually happened, and as the announcement was made, She might of punched the air and yelled “Get in there” …So STV can just write anything they want???
At the very least. X-factor is guilty of trying to sway public opinion, by making up the contestants responses. I’m sure people wouldnt like her as much if STV had reported “She pointed to the other contestants screaming a torrent of abuse”
