X Factor: Rikki Loney returns!
Ricky Loney auditioned for last years X Factor, where he made it through to bootcamp but narrowly missed out on the opportunity to visit the judge’s houses. Tomorrow night we will see Ricky’s second shot at superstardom…
“I’m a full-time singer. I sing in social clubs, pubs, wherever it be and I want it to be a bigger stage, I want to actually be doing my own concerts and things like that.”
“It took a good three, four months to get myself back and decide that singing is want I wanted to do and it’s such a struggle and it’s so hard to bring yourself back to this but I want it that much. I’ve never wanted anything so much.”
“You’re back, you’re auditioning in front of two thousand people this time, how’s that going to make you feel?!” asks Dermot. “I’m really excited” replies Ricky, revealing that “my mum and friends and family are in the audience but they actually think that I’m with someone, supporting them.” Let’s hope Ricky’s friends and family will enjoy the surprise and that Ricky’s audition will be a success, as Ricky takes to the stage…
Ricky: “My name’s Ricky”
Simon: “You were on the show last year weren’t you?”
Ricky: “A year’s passed now and I think that I’m back and I’m more confident than I was last year, and I want to prove to you that I can go the whole way this time.”
Simon: “OK, well thank you for coming back and Ricky who are you here with today?”
Ricky: “I’ve come on my own today but my mum’s actually in the audience with my friends and family.”
Simon: “Wow.”
Ricky: “She didn’t think I was auditioning.”
Simon: “What? Where’s mum? Stand up”
Ricky’s mother stands up in the audience, getting a rousing cheer from the crowd.
Simon: “So she didn’t know you where coming?”
Ricky: “No they thought I was with a friend.”
Dannii: “Ah, how cute”
Simon: “Alright, well look Ricky, genuinely best of luck, I hope it goes well.”
Ricky gives a soulful and confident performance of the Otis Redding classic These Arms of Mine; will the judges like what they hear?
