X Factor 2013 winner Sam Bailey has unveiled a whopping 10-minute preview of her new debut album, The Power of Love.
We have to say, from the preview alone, Sam really showcases her powerhouse vocals on every song on the album. But, some do stand out more than others. Click on inside to listen to the preview.
The ten minute album sampler kicks off with album title track, The Power of Love and is a perfect opening for the album as it sets the tone of the entire collection and also shows off Sam’s stunning vocals.
There’s no surprise when I say that the album is filled right to the brim with ballads, but I don’t think you’ll have expected anything different from her – that’s the artist that Sam is, I guess.
For me, her cover of From This Moment On falls a little flat and judging from the preview as a whole, it’s one of my least favourites on the album. However, that may all change when I get to hear the full thing.
But, speaking about highlights on the album, the standout track is Bailey’s rendition of diva song And I Am Telling You featuring X Factor judge, Nicole Scherzinger. As we already know, Scherzinger has KILLER vocals but Sam really gives her a run for her money on the album track as there’s no separating them in terms of vocals. I’m excited to hear the full version of the And I Am Telling You when the album is released toward the end of this month.
Other covers on the album include Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be, Get Here, and duet with Michael Bolton; Ain’t No Moutain High Enough. Completing the album is Bailey’s winners single, Skyscraper, which still gives us goosebumps when we hear the studio version of the track.
Elsewhere, original track and latest single Compass is a very strong song on the album and is even a standout track. Compass seems to shine among the host of covers on the album.
I’m looking forward to the album release on March 24 to hear the album in full. Will you be rushing out to buy it?
