X Factor: Sharon Osbourne Meets With Simon Cowell
Oh the shock!!!!! Oh the drama!!!! You can imagine our surprise (not!) when we heard that Sharon Osbourne has met with Simon Cowell and agreed to return to the X Factor this Saturday night.
A show insider told The Mirror: “They had a meeting and it went well. Everyone got to have their say.”
Sharon was expected to attend a sound check at the show’s Wembley studios yesterday.
A spokeswoman revealed: “We’re fully expecting Sharon to be at the studio on Saturday.”
If this story is true…..and we have our doubts….then who has been mentoring Sharon’s contestants all week? Who chose their songs and who has helped hone their performances? If they can survive without Sharon then we need to ask…….do we need the judges at all?

I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that someone had walked off a set meant they were giving up the show. All these quirks of diva behaviour are for effect only. All the judges have egos that need feeding so this kind of hype does the trick.
Whether we really need judges remains to be seen. As said so many times in the past you cannot be a mentor and a judge. You are either one or the other.
A mentor is meant to be someone you can look up to, so in the field of music:-
i)I’d expect mentors to able to perform by singing or by playing an instrument,
ii) I’d expect them to have serious academic and business leanings and
iii) also to possess an ability to speak with tact and empathy towards there charges.
If none of this is possible i,e the job criteria or description is not met than they are merely people who are either:-
a) qualified to judge by standard,
b)qualified to judge via what is commercially viable due to having links within the industry or they are like you,
c)ordinary citizens with an opinion.
