X Factor: Shayne Ward Can’t Sell Out His Tour
Last years X Factor winner Shayne Ward has failed to sell out ANY dates for his upcoming UK tour.
Shayne’s tour kicks off in the Point Theatre in Dublin and there are 2000 tickets left for that show alone.
A source close to the 22- year-old who won last year’s X Factor said: “It was always going to be an ambitious tour for someone who has only been around for a year.
“A tour as big as this costs a fortune and needs to be a sell-out just to break even.”

You know half the problem with these type of tours is that the venues are large scale and they cost far to much to hire out.
Also another little problem is that more is made from merchandising at large scale venues and may in fact be the only profit making side to the business of touring from the artists point of view. As it is true that to draw even you have to sell out.
I personally think that once the first year or six months has passed after X factor and according to the statistics governing CD sales and how popular a prerson really is, the artists management and production companies should concentrate on smaller venues which cost less for the doors to open (aftreall they can always do two nights and not one) and they should cut back on the amount of spending, towards that end result of pushing out mega decibels of sound.
Reality rings a different tune when the till is running on empty.

According to Shayne Wards web site and my own attempts to get tickets for certain venues many of the dates are either sold out or tickets are very limited, which I think is a fabulous achievement for an artist who has been around for such a short time and been out of the counrty for half the year into the bargain.
The concert reviews I have read so far suggest that it’s a fabulous show and underlines why Shayne will be around for some time to come. So many people have written him off already just because he hasn’t been seen in the press much but do they know that he has had massive success in Asia and South Africa with his album going double platinum. Well I for one am glad he is back, and can’t wait for 12th Feb when I will be 3 rows from the front with my hubby and 2 kids! It’s worth remembering that Will Young was written off by the great british press until the release of his second album. (SHayne’s incidentally is to be released on 2nd March - can’t wait for that either)
Go Shayne !!!
I saw Shayne in concert both in Dublin and Belfast - no empty seats as far as I could see + fantastic show both times. Grat voice. Looking forward to next album
Oh gosh, double platinum in Asia and South Africa. From my reckoning Norman Wisdom is still a musical star and pop artist in Peru or somewhere… where the economic enviroment means very few people have any disposable income for luxuries.
Shane should concentrate on going double platinum in Britain or maybe taking advice from Will Young to last the test of time.

I’ll think you’ll find that’s wrong information you’re giving out there!
I suggest you actually read up on Shayne’s tour before posting these false articles!
Yes Shayne did sell out a few of his dates! I for one know he did because i was at both gigs in Glasgow(one of them being sold out!)
Two fantastic nights! I would go to the whole tour if i could afford it.
We don’t want to hear this sort of stuff. It’s all lies so just keep it to yourself in future.
None of Shanes dates have sold out my friend was at the 2nd glasgow and cardiff date and both were barely half full, it was about 2 thirds full at the manchester date last night, though it was advertised as being sold out 6 months ago. one of his dates at wembley was cancelled because it had not even sold the front 3 blocks.
Its not over for yet his new album is due out on the 2nd April if its a strong seller he will be ok.
I WAS AT SHAYNES CONCERT IN MANCHESTER ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC AND I FOR ONE CANT WAIT TO HERE HIS NEW MATERIAL
just want to say, i say shane ward on friday in manchester and before i went i wasnt really a fan- was only going for a friends birthday. However i just want to say that he was fantastic, such an amazing voice and brilliant choice of songs- i would definately go again.
Shayne Ward is so cute. I wish him al da best in his future career ..xxxxx
i saw shayne at nottingham last night with my 12 year old daughter, her friend and her mum. (tuesday 13th feb)must say that we were kept waiting for ages, the artist on first had a beautiful voice and was accompanied by the guitar, but i thought she was a bit out of place, she was on for 1/2 hour, everyone was getting really excited thinking shayne would be straight on, but then we had to wait another 1/2 hour, but boy did he make up for the wait. a fantastic concert, really did have the WOW factor, cant wait to see what he does next. highly recommend!!! A***
i saw shayne ward last night in wembley and it was cancelled the night before but the show was amazin and i felt very sorry for him he looked so happy that everyone was there and the place only had a few blocks unsold but he has only been around for a year and hasnt been around for a while which shows he still has fans all he needs to do is get that album out and stay over here more but i think he is amazin and stories like this are not gonna help him!!!
i went last night to nec concert was brill ive seen many concerts most not singing live but he did he looked good sang good could not fault him i wish people would leave him alone
I’ve been to 9 of his gigs and they were all fantastic. Apart from the 2nd nights of Glasgow and Cardiff, the rest were over 90% full. I see his arena tour as a defensive move rather than over-ambitious. Small venues mean more gigs, and if I had a recent throat operation, I would choose to do larger venues and less gigs. I don’t understand why people can’t be more supportive. He’s a nice guy who’s down to earth and does not deserve this sort of gloating which seems to be the sole purpose of this article.
I’m really encouraged for Shayne by the support most of these comments have shown him. Full or not, ALL of his gigs have had great reviews in the local press. I think he announced second dates in some venues too soon and perhaps should have stuck to one night per venue and then sold out. but it’s all water under the bridge.
Very hard to criticise someone regarding longevity when they have only been around a year! Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t shayne’s first album go platinum in the UK and in its first week at number 1 outsold all of the other top 20 albums put together for that week? and thats before he went to tour Asia and have major throat surgery into the bargain. Poor lad, what does he have to do. Well keep doing what he’s doing is the answer. It’s clear that he has an army of loyal fans out there who will keep supporting him. I don’t suppose his record company will really care where in the world his success comes from, as long as he keeps selling records and he will, much to the aggrevation of all of those people out there who would love to see him fall!
I think artists dong well on these types of shows need to think more before jumping in bed with one of the promoters/managers; Shayne should have been a lot bigger by now as in my opinion he is the best one bar Leona to come out of these shows and should have had a lot nore publicity and a fe good singles by now. Leona is a different article however as Simon is determined to crack America with her so that’s her short term goal, Shaynes should have been to conquer the UK within a year ! Mr Walsh has blundered with a great talent.
What a load of rubbish this article is! If he hadnt sold out ANY dates why did he have to have about 8 dates for ireland alone?! I wish you would stop critisising him he dont deserve it, he’s one of the most loveliest guys I’ve ever met! So down to earth and humble! Also not to mention what a great show he puts on! The best concert I’ve ever seen, was fab!
shayne did have some sell out tours, and i went to wembly to see him and he was amazing
Shayne Ward is a very talented and down to earth young man.I went to both nights of his tour in Glasgow( the Friday night WAS a sell out)It was a fantastic show and well worth it, i would have gone to other venues aronud the UK just to see him again if i had the money and could get the time off work.If he does another tour i will certainly go again and will buy his album and sngle as soon as they are released.
I saw shayne in newcastle on 5/2/07 he was fantastic the song choices were amazing. h did a james bond theme it was brilliant he came down from the ceiling.
