X Factor: Simon Cowell defends saving John and Edward Grimes

As expected, on tonight’s X Factor show, Simon Cowell addressed the week’s headlines and public outrage at his decision to Save John and Edward Grimes on last week’s show.
Simon denied claims that he sent the show to deadlock for tactical reasons and said that he did so because he fully trusts the British public.
Before the performances started Simon said:
Last week I know I upset a lot of people but I want to say something here, I have never used this position on a deadlock, I would never ever play tactics or mess with people’s lives, I’ve even thrown out my own contestants in this position before. I took a decision because as I didn’t feel strongly enough about either performance.
I didn’t know what was going to happen, but one thing I can say is I truest the public, I always have I always will. It wasn’t a popular decision but I thought out of respect and let the public decide, Lucie I want to say this to you, even though I’m sorry that you left, you left with dignity.
Is that a good enough explanation for you?
