It seems that you really can’t believe everything that you see on your TV screen. During last weeks X Factor, you may have thought that all those audience banners had been painstakingly created by loyal fans, but you’d be wrong.

In fact, X Factor staff make the banners with lines like ‘I Love Simon’. They hand them out to random audience members before the show and collect them again afterwards.

An audience member told The Sun that the warm up man told them:

“We need to collect all the banners at the end of the show so we can re-use them next week.

“If you see the one you are holding now on TV, you can tell everyone you held that banner.”

The insider said: “We couldn’t believe it.

“We thought people had genuinely made their own banners but it seems people just get them so they can be seen on TV.”

A spokesperson for the show said: “The runners on the show make the banners.

“We can’t have loads of people bringing banners down they’re just too bulky.”
