We reported earlier this week that Shirley Bassey’s granddaughter ‘Tatjana Novak-Kimsey’ has auditioned for the X Factor this year.

Tatjana performed Faith Hill’s ‘There You’ll Be’ for the X Factor judges and is hoping that when she appears on the ITV show, her grandma will be watching.

Tatjana appeared on This Is Your Life with Dame Bassey and even on stage with her in the Albert Hall when she was only sixteen months old, however the pair have had no contact for the last 16 years.

‘It would mean the world to me if she watched me sing,’ Tatjana, told The Daily Mail, ‘but I’d hate for her to be disappointed because I know I didn’t give my best performance. I panicked when the show’s researchers started asking me personal questions about Shirley before I sang, and I didn’t give 100 per cent.

‘She is one of the best singers in the world. Her voice is so powerful she can belt out songs like there’s no tomorrow and I just don’t compare.

‘I think the show’s producers were expecting me to be a mini-Shirley, but I’m not. I’m not vocally trained and I don’t have that power in my voice.

‘I went on the show as me, and I can’t help but feel they were disappointed.’

Tatjana desperately wants to reconcile with her Grandmother, however she worries that she may have blown her chance by mentioning her on the ITV show.

‘I keep worrying I have upset her and blown any chance of ever getting to know her again,’ says Tatjana.

‘I passed three auditions without anyone knowing.’

‘I wanted to see how far I could go on the strength of my own talent, but at the recall a researcher asked me if I was related to anyone famous or who had been on television.

‘I told him the truth, because I thought if I lied I’d get into trouble if the truth came out later. But then I started crying because I didn’t want them to mention it.

‘I didn’t want Shirley to think that I’d used her name to try to further my career. Now, people are calling me a “monster” on internet blogs, accusing me of using family connections, when that was the very last thing I wanted to do.’

Call me a sceptic, or even a cynic but if Tatjana really wanted to contact Shirley Bassey, wouldn’t she have done it already? She obviously hasn’t made the X Factor’s live shows, if she had she would be banned from giving these revealing interviews. So now she is using her name, her grandmother’s name, to try and grab some fame and some money for herself. Very very transparent Miss Novak-Kimsey.
