X Factor: Unreality TV readers blast Kelly Rowland for Janet Devlin treatment!

Over the last few days, you have been visiting our little blog in your thousands to tell us exactly what you think about Kelly Rowland and her treatment of Janet Devlin in recent weeks.
It has been reported in the press that the X Factor judge is currently on bad terms with the talented teen, even expressing her relief when Devlin opted out of joining her at a Tinie Tempah gig last week.
It is also claimed that the Northern Irish singer is feeling alienated and neglected and is worried that Kelly is focusing heavily on Misha B and not helping her craft her performances before the weekly live shows.
As a result Gary Barlow told Janet on Saturday that he was ‘losing interest’ in her as a performer and Kelly later blasted the young red head, saying something had ‘gone wrong’ and it was only an ‘alright performance.’
You seem to think that Janet has a point and when we asked you to share your opinions on Devlin’s supposed concerns, you were, as always, very, very outspoken!

Ive been saying for a while Kelly is not spending the time with Janet like she does with favored MB now it’s clear for all to see. Janet should now go with Louis, before the best singer in X factor gets voted off. Janet has the best voice in the compition it’s very obvious for anyone to see this, she’s only 17yo and needs a mentor to help her go on and win.

Kelly is a crap mentor she hasn’t got a clue! Good on Janet for not letting Rowland change her, she’s putting all her effort into Misha which is a fail because the public simply don’t like her. Janet has topped the public vote every week it was revealed so if Kelly can’t be bothered to treat each act the same then she should clear off simple as that.
We particularly liked Helen’s comments, as she urged Kelly to be more supportive to the young star, writing:
Kelly needs to be fair to all her acts, Janet has just turned 17 and needs an arm around her shoulder and encouragment to bring the best out of her.
She is super talented & unique with her amazing voice but her confidence is low and kelly needs to make up with her and get her back on track.
The voting public have fell in love with her shy personality and her undoughted talent and that’s why she’s never been in the bottom two.

It’s a disgrace how Kelly is treating Janet, she didn’t defend her on Saturday night against unfair coments from Gary who sees Janet as a big threat to his on acts who are good but not same class or league as Janet.
Janet would be better off with a new mentor like Louis but I can’t see the show letting that happen to be honest. She deserves to be in the final and I’ll be suprised if she doesn’t make it.
It has been reported in the press this weekend that despite Gary Barlow’s constant criticism and barrage of complaints, Janet has topped the public vote every week of the 2011 X Factor series.
This has not yet been confirmed by ITV, but we can tell you that we haven’t seen such massive support for an X Factor contestant on our website in a few years at least!

I dont think you guys are being very fair to kelly . She was the one who took most interest towards Janet in the beginning , but then Janet started acting up , she has some serious attitude problems for a 17 year old . So kelly is focusing more on the act she thinks has a more chance of winning . Janet keeps complaining about Amelia being brought back , a true contestant would instead focus on making themselves better considering they had forgotten the words to a song on a live show ! All this whining and complaining is Janet’s pathetic attempt of securing more votes from the audience , and for some lame reason , it’s actually working .
The thing is Kelly was turning her into sth that she is not. It is right to stand up on what you are as an artist. Just admit it, Kelly is biased. Just take a look on how she treated Sophie Habibis.
Jess I totally agreed with you, Janet entered into a competition where she has to sing different themes everyweek, she needs to be more diverse. Her performances are predictable and boring. The week she sang ‘fix you’ that’s been her best week and Kelly was the one who picked that song for her. She needs to listen to the experts more.I would do exactly what Kelly is doing and ignore her if she’s not taking any advice from me. When she did the interview with the press she was so rude. Put urselfs in Kellys shoes and think would you still listen to her or lether do what she wants. Stop being to quick to place everything on Kelly.

I think Kelly is VERY unfair to Janet. she only has time for minny me – misha b. Janet is an innocent kid with an amazing voice. She is not street wise like the rest of the contestants. Kelly is always bullying Louis and giving him nasty comments that she must think are funny. Any wonder that she would favour her act who is of the same personality type as herself. Maybe she just has a problem with Irish people!! She needs to stat looking after Janet as a mentor and a friend. The kid is all alone. Kelly DO YOUR JOB.
Actually Janet has the worst voice in the competition. Misha, Marcus, Craig and Amelia have better voices and when Little Mix sing accapella they sound amazing.
There’s nothing Kelly can do – Janet is completely one dimensional and that was proven when she fluffed it up on Club Classics week. Ballads and Ballads only. At least the others can do both Ballads and Up-Tempo stuff.

Janet has had to grow up quick as she is a wee country girl from northern Ireland and it has been a big culture shock for her and she needs Kelly to support her and back her up.
She has the voice of the show but she can’t win alone as she needs a mentor who is backing & helping her progress to her full potential having said that Janet needs to listen to Kelly as she has the experiance and made it herself.
Let’s hope they make up & get Janet back to her best as she has alot more to give
just listen to her on Utube and see her at her best, that’s the Janet the public at large fell in love with. Janets a fighter and she will bounce back this weekend.
this is disgraceful, Kelly is the best mentor there. it’s not her fault that Janet is throwing tantrums when she isnt comfortable with certain decisions. She rarely picks songs that are boring and unsuited to her acts, unlike all the other mentors. misha b is a brilliant performer, in my opinion she should win the competition hands down but tulisa and louis have done too much damage to her…but thats a different matter…it just appears like kelly is doing more with misha because she is so polished and professional! not only this but Kelly also gives comments on the show to other acts on how to improve….the other judges only say it was good or bad… maybe the odd tip but not like kelly….think its about time people stopped getting on her case… tbh

Every week its the same, dull ballad, dull ballad, dull ballad. She can’t even put a bit of power in and do a power ballad. It’s always the same, slow, and dreary ballad week on week.

Haters will be haters Janet has massive support she is a great talent and weather ppl like it or not Kelly is the worst judge on the show she’s only interested in Misha,and she’s nothing like Diana vickers and alot of singers only sing in a certain style so please don’t make me laugh,the way she is being treated is shocking why should someone change for the sake of a talent show when she has her own unique style and that’s why ppl are voting for her.

Yeah, let’s blame the mentor. If the machine doesn’t work, it’s usually because it doesn’t have gas, not because you drove it the wrong way.
This is a versatility show. If she was only going to sing ballads week after week, she should have entered BGT. There are fewer weeks there.
Come on then what actually good about Kelly Rowland?as I’ve said before there are alot of singers who sing in one particular way in no way does it mean your dull,ppl like Janet it’s proven she’s topped every public vote so far,ppl hate just for the sake of it,I mean you wouldn’t see Paul Potts singing a pop song when he does classical would you?and look how successful he’s been.
until the end of the series voting figures wont be officially released…dont believe all that is said in papers.. and look at rebecca ferguson last year.. her style isnt versatile but she took on every theme and sang the songs with elements of her own style but kept it in tune with the theme…. janet takes a song and completely changes it to her own style…she is not as exciting as other people in the comp and she has become boring for that reason.
i agree with silvio this is a versatility show…but there’s nothing wrong she stand on her own style if she cant handle another dimension,right??at least she tried once in club classic week,AT LEAST she brave to try..why don’t just leave her alone?if people don’t like her,she won’t be in the competition for 6 weeks..

I don’t get Janet, I’m inclined to agree with Max, The Xfactor has themes for a reason to find versatile artists, you need to be able to do ballads and uptempo. It’s ok to have your own style as you say, but even Leona who does amazing ballads has done 2 uptempo hits.
Also ballads are a wide spectrum, like someone said above, she could try power ballads. She makes every song sound the same. The pace is slowed and each week she makes all her songs sound the same.
Not to mention forgetting the words is unforgivable. I believe Janet will finish 4th, no higher.
Inclined to agree with the above, Janet is the weakest of the now 3 remaining girls, both Misha and Amelia are better singers and much more versatile. Misha can do songs like rolling in the deep and make them new, she can do slow songs like her song for survival last night, and she can do the faster rap numbers. Week 1 Amelia took Billy Jean and made it a rock song, this week Amelia did a power ballad.

public always have the best opinion despite all the hatred , frankie only been at the bottom 2 first week , all the hyped up super super group ( which I also like ) was at the bottom , super best professional born performer misha b , bottom 2 again , public simply don’t buy it . amelia was dumped by her mentor and yet public voted her back . marcus got more support after he came out . the final 6 , seem to be all unbelievably great acts , the record company knows best , they can along with Cowell sign them whether they win or not . will you if u were record producer ? out of them , I would sign Janet for her voice , appeal and looks and I think she could hit Asian markets such as japan . why the xfactor doesn’t has a country songs theme ? then compare janet with the rest ?

Kelly hasn’t done anything wrong. The comments saying she has are just bizarre, but some people seem to have a bias against her that I personally don’t understand (then again I don’t understand how anyone in their right mind could still think Louis Walsh is relevant to this show and what it stands for but hey, ho).
Some people get better and better on the X-Factor and some start to go downhill. It’s obvious now Janet isn’t right for the X-Factor; the competition and what in entails just doesn’t suit her voice and style. She would have been much better off doing the gig circuit, trying to get a record deal and so on.
Her voice and style isn’t versatile and that’s what the X-Factor is generally about. Someone like Marcus thrives in this competition because he adapts each week, as opposed to Janet who wants to adapt each week to suit her. There’s nothing wrong with that (it’s what real artists generally do) but it’s not right for this show and it’s why shes struggling.

Well ppl can say what they like really Janets got support unlike any one else she’s different I for one don’t want another boring run of the mill contestant like the others,Misha is not liked and you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to work that out,and the public voting figures are correct it was directly from the show so that’s something you can’t argue with ppl just like to hate and have no minds of there own shame really

Kelly needs to work with Janet to make sure she is comfortable with whatever she is doing. That does NOT mean saying you know what is best for her. Janet clearly knows what is best for her and Kelly’s job is to help her bring that out, not to change it completely.
I am a huge Janet fan from the start. I fell in love with a shy, lovely and talented Irish girl with an unique style and voice. She was adorable and humble. Now 3 months later we see
A girl who hardly speaks to her fans at twitter and only last week thank them for the first time for voting for her. She claims not to write back to fan mail unless she picks them randomly.
Because she can’t handle the praise she gets. It’s very clear we saw a totally different side of her the last weeks arrogant, uninterested and depressed looking. Her performances where weak and above all she lost her smile!!!! Compare her to her audition tape and you see a world of difference. What happened? First she has some high speed grow up to do, doing her laundry, cooking and clean up she was spoilt at home. Second she has to stand up for her self.
Third this competition is cutthroat and high pressure. She has to go back to the old Janet and find her smile back. If she does not win for lack of diversity that’s ok. Susan Boyle, Sinead O’Conner Kate bush and above all Nana Mouskoury more than 750 Million sold records and many others are all one trick ponies and mega successful. She has her fan base to build her future in music, modelling, advertisement and more go back to the basics Janet and find your smile back!! Go Janet go!!

What a terrible uninspiring, boring show this year. Gary Barlow is as entertaining as a dead haddock, Tulisa is just ugh and Kelly Rowland is sooooooooooooooo constantly predictable and boring. BRING BACK SIMON
I do not think that Janet has a future on this show. For the last three weeks she has come out with the most stunning drivel imaginable. Janet looks like a spoiled sulky child who has not got her way.

One thing is to be a better performer and to be more versatile, but Misha’s voice is shit compared to Janet.
Janet’s voice is kinda like heaven, the only difference is that is not that perfect… Misha is a great artist and she’s interesting but her tone and voice aren’t the greatest thing in the world. People say Janet is pitchy sometimes… yes, it’s true, I can’t deny it. However, nobody says that Misha is far more pitchy than Janet and I can give you like 100 evidences of Misha’s pitch problems.

I don’t get how people keep comparing Misha B and Janet. Seriously, cut it off. It’s just the same as comparing mainstream and indie, lol. And both have different markets and different fans. There are people who dislike mainstream and so on the contrary.
Bottomline is you just cannot say one person’s better when that person can hit certain notes. It’s about the heart and the message from the lyrics. Regardless her on point pitch, I personally did not connect to Misha’s song last week.
I like both Misha B and Janet, they have different styles. I just dislike Kelly! Her attitude just makes me ill and disgusted, whether its on her contestants, on Louis, etc.
This is a big week for Janet she needs to preform well and with a smile on her face,she has now a massive fan base but she has to try connact with them and keep them onside. If it looks that she’s not enjoying herself it wil do her harm. She has went through alot of tuff things lattely like losing her granda & now she feels neglected by Kelly she has been brave and deserves credit and I appaud her for having her own style without any gimicks like some other acts. She wil hit it big even she doesn’t win xfactor no doughy about it but I’ll be shocked if she’s not in the final 3 and has the potential to win if she gets her smile back!

Janet is Brilliant and the last performance was outstanding in my opinion. It just depends what you like but I like singing from the heart. Not sure about all this Kelly thing but its clear Janet needs some re assurrance. I think Kelly should tell Gary a lot of people think he is boring, cocky and annoying and does not know everything. His comments last week were rude ignorant and disgusting. Play it back again and listen carefully. She is to good for the stupid show.
Tony ,I so agree with you. Janet sings from the heart to the soul. I love it. Mr Barlow was cruel last Saturday to a young girl in a vulnerable position and it certainly was painful to witness. I’m glad Dermot gave her some support. Janet has star power and an integrity far beyond the likes of the X Factor. I think Janet is epic and far too good for this show.
JANET NEEDS TO BE MENTORED END OF. kelly is not interested in janet it’s obvious let’s face it! Kelly only cares about Mischa.Amelia and Janet are both much better than Mischa but Kelly wants Mischa to win.Michsa is not likeable she is not attractive and has a deep voice like any other black lady there is nothing special about her.Kelly gave a bad song to Amelia in purpose to hide her talent on the other hand she choose a brilliant song for Mischa she killed that song it was a very bad version of the song.Kelly has and attitude didn’t like the way she was talking to Louie etc do t think she is very classy!
