The X Factor USA judges rolled into Lakefront Arena in New Orleans this week for their second stop on this year’s audition tour and Simon Cowell has already told fans who has been shining at the tryouts.

The music mogul was joined by his bevvy of beauties – Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato – at the auditions and the show’s official Twitter account revealed that the British star thinks “It’s gonna be all about girl groups this year.”

It’s hardly surprising that he’s scouting for a girl band, after all his X Factor UK act Little Mix recently broke a number of sales records when their album ‘DNA’ got to number four in the US charts, after only a short period of promotion.

There was one big surprise for the panel when the performances got underway, as they were treated to a song from returning contestant Panda Ross. The 42 year old Texan soul singer wowed last year’s panel with her huge voice and immense talent but took ill and ended up being carried out on a stretcher shortly after her audition.

TV viewers will have to wait until the show’s return in September to see if the judges like her enough this time round to give her a pass to the next round.

It sounds like Cowell was his normal brutally honest self yesterday after one act proved that they definitely did not have the talent to make the live shows or win a record deal, Rubio tried to be diplomatic, saying she had “nothing to say at all.”

However Cowell wasn’t going to be that kind and said:

“I do,” he hissed. “You are both awful singers.”

Kelly Rowland had some special people at the tryouts yesterday and brought her mum and aunts along for a tour and to keep her company during the filming breaks. How sweet!
