Simon Cowell has forbidden Demi Lovato from dating One Direction star Niall Horan.

The X Factor USA boss was filmed chatting to the newest addition to the show’s panel recently and in the clip below the blonde beauty teases the music mogul saying:

‘By The way, Niall says hi.’

Cowell asks:

‘What from One Direction?’

He later jokes:

“Keep away from him. He’s pure.”

However it seems that Demi is set on being single…for now, because she tells her new boss:

“I’m not looking for anything, I’m not going to date anybody for a whole year, and I made that clear to him!”

Cowell just can’t stop prying though and asks:

‘Have you kissed him?’

Lovato blushes and giggles:

‘What? Simon, no…that’s a weird question.’

Of course Cowell has a vested interest in the lads as not only did he put them together at X Factor bootcamp back in 2010, but 1D are also signed to his SYCO record label and are currently bringing in millions and millions of pounds to top up his already pretty huge bank balance.

We don’t know if we believe her though as last Thursday night, as soon as the MTV VMAs ended, Demi and Niall hotfooted it out of the Staples Centre and straight to a very plush LA restaurant, where they enjoyed a romantic meal for two.

It seems that they spoke about Simon a few times during their meal, as Niall later tweeted:

‘VMA’s were amazing! Heard a lot from @ddlovato about @SimonCowell @britneyspears @La_Reid. Gonna be fun’

Season 2 Premiere of The X Factor USA takes place this Wednesday & Thursday Sept. 12 & 13 at 8/7c on FOX.
