X Factor USA: Stacy Francis speaks about Whitney Houston attack – calls late star a ‘wild animal’

Whitney Houston has only been dead for a matter of days and already, Stacy Francis has spoken out to sully her name.

Yes, we all know that the legendary singer had problems and issues, that much was apparent to anyone with eyes, but in the days leading up to her funeral, most other stars have chosen not to speak about this aspect of her life, out of respect for her grieving family and the legacy of music Houston left behind.

However, X Factor USA contestant Stacy Francis has decided not to follow the example set by bigger stars than herself and has given an interview, describing her altercation with Whitney last Thursday night.

The pair had been attending Kelly Price’s pre-Grammy party in LA and though Houston was not on the bill to perform, she did sing an impromptu duet with Kelly. Their performance of ‘Jesus Loves You,’ was Whitney’s last in public.

You can watch a clip fo the song below.

It was reported before her death, that Houston took offence and ended up screaming at Stacy at the party. Francis now claims that it was because she was talking to her on/off boyfriend Ray J, brother of singing star Brandy.

Speaking to The Daily Mirror, Francis explained:

“She was out of control. She put her hand in my face. She was screaming at me and called me a bitch. She just went crazy – like Jekyll and Hyde. I turned to look at her and she pushed my forehead and turned my face away. I grabbed her hand and said, ‘Please don’t do this. You’re everything to me. You’re my idol, you’re a legend.’

“I was crying and screaming out, we were both screaming until eventually we were pulled apart.”

Stacy added:

“There was a lot of alcohol there. She was doing shots. I saw her drink one before she went on stage to sing and then she had another one when she came off. Ray had come over to me when he got there and he hugged me and said congratulations on the X Factor. He had known me for about 20 years and he was happy for me being on such a big show.

“But I don’t think Whitney understood. I was with a date. It wasn’t what she thought, but then Ray’s friend stepped between us and I heard Ray telling Whitney that I was a friend of the family. It was really cramped by the stage and at one point I was so close to Whitney that our bodies were touching.

“She said, ‘Why are you here? Who’s the bitch?’ It was really weird because we’d been talking for hours … It all went very wrong when she put her hand in my face and pushed my forehead.

“I was very hurt. I said to her, ‘The thing we don’t want is Stacy Francis from the X Factor fighting Whitney Houston. Please honey, we don’t want that.’ I just wanted to grab her and hug her.”

Stacy also tried to explain why she is speaking out about the incident now and insists that it isn’t for publicity, or because she is being paid (which we doubt very highly) but because she wants to raise awareness among members of the public.

She continued:

“It’s so sad to see our icons die like this. If you think about Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson – now Whitney, it’s heartbreaking. It’s very difficult for anybody to say anything that puts her in a bad light, but when I heard Whitney was gone I felt she had been badly let down. I felt like everyone had betrayed her.

“People told me not say anything about what happened that night. I know that if I talk some people will hate me, but if I don’t the same sort of tragedies will keep happening. There must be something we can do to stop it.”

Francis also backed up claims that Houston was considering joining The X Factor USA, and revealed that she even chatted to the star about the hit Fox show.

“I said, ‘Oh my God, are you going to do it? You’ve got to do it!,’ she claimed, adding:

“She said, ‘Well, I’m certainly considering it.’ It seemed to me like she was excited about being back on television and being on such a big show.”

We posted a video earlier this week, in which Houston did seen to confirm that she would be appearing on the talent show later this year.

What a shame that will never happen now.

Do you think Stacy was right to speak out and reveal all about her row with Whitney? We’d love to hear your thoughts, in the comments section below.

Its a good thing dat she revealed her side of da story, BUT if she is a big fan of whitney, and she says dat whitney is her “IDOL” den she could have done sumthing abt whitney’s behaviour we fans know about her addiction and when they saw her drinking why couldn’t dey put a stop to it, inform a close relative of whitney’s situation, she could have told Ray to be by whitney’s side cause of her situation that nyt, it could have been prevented,,, has for whitneys scratch marks we here of its terrible if stacey francis attacked whitney back, our icon was on a drinking binge, stacey could have been da better person and walked away from this situation,, I still believe in whitney houston her legacy will live on forever in our hearts, if I was in a situation that francis was in with whitney instead of fighting her back, I would have walked away from whitney allowed whitney to calm herself down and givin her my love and support… Whitney I believe in you! I will always love u a true DIVA and inspiration, RIP Whitney u are finally home in gods arms, where there is peace and no hate!!! Love Always Your biggest fan

At that pre Gramy party and perhaps instead of plying her with Drink why didnt some one say, ” Lets get herr outa here ” Whitney had a Drug and Drink addiction we were all aware, let her R:I:P: now and her Family be Given the respect, and Dignaty they deserve after. All we have a woman who has lost her Daughter and a Daughter who has lost her Mother xx

sully whitneys name?? i’d hardly call it that! she needed to clear the air. Fingers were being pointed at Miss Francis! WH fans were accusing her of all kinds of nonsence! easy to say stay quiet hussh up! isn’t that what led to Whitneys demise?? hushing up and cover ups! from what i read Stacy acted in a dignified manner.

I’m glad Stacy told her side of the story. Already people were trying to blame her for the altercation. Whitney’s so called friend with whom she sang impromptu, has been saying that all Whitney had was champagne. These friends knew Whitney has a drinking and drug problem so why even offer her champagne? Most likely a culmination of alcohol and prescription medication led to her untimely death. She is at peace now. Hopefully the up and coming stars and singers will learn from these tragedies. Quoting from Rebecca Ferguson song is so appropriate–”all that glitter and that gold won’t buy you happy.” May God give her family
strength to cope at this time.

For the person who commented previously and said that

it could have been prevented, and she should have been giving time to calm down”.” Have you ever tried to stop an alcoholic from drinking? It’s impossible, if that is what they “choose” to do. Actually it’s not really a choice really when you’re an alcoholic, addiction is an illness. It’s pretty much like trying to take candy from a baby, and expecting them not to cry. And once upset, the only thing to “calm them down”, is the very thing that is bad for them. I know, been sober 9 years.
