X Factor USA: Steve Jones axed after Rachel Crow furore?
Fox bosses have reportedly decided that Steve Jones will not be fronting the X Factor USA for a second season next year.
Simon Cowell was sure that the Welsh star had the looks and the style to appeal to the American public but apparently he did not have the personality and as critics widely agree that Jones has been a terrible presenter for the new talent series, executives are thought to have told Cowell that they won’t be having his boy back in 2012.
Insiders say the hunk is ‘devastated’ with the news, having settled well in LA and feeling reticent to return to the UK, where his career could very easily be affected by the snub.
A source told The Mirror:
“Steve keeps saying that living in LA is a dream come true. He loves the weather and the women, and he loves working on X Factor – it’s just a shame that the US public has not warmed to him.
“He got terrible reviews from critics when he started and things haven’t got better. There have been mistakes and he just doesn’t seem to have the knack for dealing with contestants.
“The executives at Fox have already decided not to renew his contract and so, short of a miracle happening, it is pretty much a done deal that he will not take part next season.”
We weren’t at all surprised by this news, as watching Steve deal with 13 year old Rachel Crow a few weeks ago, when she had her very dramatic breakdown on stage, made very uncomfortable TV viewing.
He looked surprised as she sank to the floor and wailed over her elimination and appeared unable to cope with the drama as it unfolded in front of him. In the end, it fell to mentor Simon Cowell to leap onto the stage and comfort the young singer, before her mother arrived on the scene.
We would guess that this incident was the final nail in the coffin of Steve’s American dream. Watch the video below and tell us if you’ll be sad to see him go.

The man got down on his nee’s beside her,

send in Dermot!!!!
I will be sad to see him go! Wish they would give him another chance!
Please give the man another chance. This is his first year on X Factor, and never experienced a meltdown like this before. I’d say his reaction time didn’t kick in fast enough. although I think he was getting better as time went by.
I didn’t see too much wrong – this kind of thing doesn’t happen often.
To be honest, she’s always been emotional – I just don’t think children should be on this show.
He did exactly like anyone else would have……I think the execs are just trying to shake things up a bit as X Factor although, had a good audience ratings, but, not as good as they had expected.
A gentleman always helps a lady when she stumbles and/or falls. He should have shown more concern for Rachel, by offering her his hand, giving her a hug and telling her that it would be okay. Once her mother and Simon arrived and she calmed down, then ask her for a comment to close the show. He didn’t do that. He leaned over to say something to her, and then turned to Marcus when she cried out loud. That appeared cold to most people, because we wanted him to do what we couldn’t; which was hug her. We didn’t want to hear from Marcus at that moment. So, I think they’re doing the right thing because overall he’s not warm-hearted and fun. He’s robotic.
