Steve Jones was announced earlier this month as the new host of Simon Cowell’s American X Factor series and his old pal Alex Jones says she’s not one bit shocked that he landed the job.

Speaking about her ex-boyfriend’s new role, One Show presenter Alex told Fabulous magazine:

“I’m not surprised about the X Factor.

Nobody believed him when he said he was in the running.

He’ll do well. He’s like an overexcited child.”

The Welsh hunk was supposed to be co-presenting the series with Pussycat Doll star Nicole Scherzinger, though it has now been claimed that she will instead join the judging panel after Cheryl Cole was sacked and returned to the UK.
