X Factor: Watch Out For Stacey Solomon From Dagenham, Essex
Not to rub it in to any X Factor fans out there, but Unreality TV was lucky enough to attend a press screening of the first X Factor show this morning. So we know exactly what’s coming up on Saturday night.
We’ve already brought you the latest news on hopeful Danyl Johnson but also one to watch is 19 year old Stacey from Dagenham, Essex.
Stacey is a student and single mum and brought her baby son Zachary along to her audition in London’s O2 Arena.
She told Dermot O’leary:
“My name is Stacey, I’m 19 yrs old from Dagenham and I live with my mum in Essex with my baby son Zachary”, I want the Judges to see me sing so I can be successful in something I really enjoy doing” says Stacey
“I sing everywhere, at home, my family tell me to ‘shush’ sometimes, my mum makes faces as I sing (does impression),” smiles Stacey, Dermot asks if Zach is interested in her singing, “Baby Zach doesn’t show any interest ha ha!”
“If I was successful I could support my family in ways I could never imagine, it means everything to me.”
Stacey seemed fun and bubbly but ultimately no one expected much of a singing voice, she seemed way too giggly and flighty to be really talented. In true Subo style the audience and judges assumed wrong.
Stacey chose to sing ‘What A Wonderful World’, which in the end was a very wise choice. The song isn’t too vocally challenging but allows emotion to be conveyed. The judges loved her and Simon almost blinded her with a perma white grin.
Cheryl ‘didn’t expect it to be that good’, Danni thought it ‘was a real surprise’, and Simon thought Stacey was ‘really really good’. Unsurprisingly Stacey scored four yes’s and is on her way to bootcamp.
Make sure to check back here or our forum after the show airs and let us know what you thought of Stacey’s performance.
