We reported recently that rent-a-mouth former The Apprentice ‘star’ Katie Hopkins had – to the surprise of no one – had a dig at X Factor winner Sam Bailey by calling her a “fat mum in jumpsuit…”
Sam didn’t make any comment about the remark at the time, however, Hopkins yesterday wrote, “Jesus. John Lewis has a sale on jumpsuits ‘one size too small’. Has anyone told Sam Bailey?”
Sam subsequently posted a reply which read, “@KTHopkins it’s getting very boring now Hun x”
However, some of Sam’s fans were considerably less understated in their criticism of Hopkins and her latest jibe, with many writing messages too blue to publish here, but one remarked, “Does it make u feel better being nasty Katie ? Cause quite frankly know one cares for your opinions ! Go sam !xxx” (sic)
But of course, Hopkins’ insults and general unpleasantness are doing exactly what she intends for them to do, which is to keep her name in the media – and here I am, as guilty of perpetuating that as the next man – given that she has no natural ability and/or talent that could see her rate a mention anywhere otherwise.
And in fact, The Guardian have named her as The Worst Troll of 2013, noting, “She’s so vile she actually made Holly Willoughby angry once.
“Only a true monster has the capacity to do that. All hail Katie Hopkins, your Queen of the Trolls.”
Other contenders for the dubious honour were former X Factor winner James Arthur, Tory bore Louise Mensch, outspoken biologist Richard Dawkins and actor Jeremy Irons. You can read the full list of runners and riders here.
However, back to what Hopkins has had to say about Sam – and her mild response – the X Factor winner wasn’t the only finalist to cop some stick from her, given she described runner-up Nicholas McDonald as “a small boy in whatever his mum laid out for him on his bed.”
And as we reported, she also wrote that Strictly Come Dancing star Susanna Reid looked like “a Citroen Picasso”.
Better than looking like a clapped out Robin Reliant…
Here’s a reminder of Hopkins on This Morning…
