Frankie Cocozza is said to be devastated, upon learning about the death of his closest friend Connor Saunders.
Police have reportedly taken three schoolboys in for questioning, in relation to the beating and possible murder of the 19 year old, who grew up with Frankie in his hometown of Brighton.
The former X Factor contestant is said to have flown straight home from Scotland, where he cancelled a planned appearance, when he heard about the tragic incident.
It is claimed that Connor got into a fight, which broke out between two groups of lads on Saturday night in in Rottingdean, near Brighton.. His death was caused by a number of serious head injuries, which he sustained during the brawl.
The youth was rushed to hospital and police arrested one 13 year old and two 14 year olds on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, however the investigation has now moved to murder, after Saunders passed away while receiving medical care.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick May, leading Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, told The Mirror:
“At the moment we believe an altercation has taken place between two groups. Members of each group are known to each other and during the incident the 19-year-old victim has been punched to the head, causing him to fall to the floor.”
Frankie took to Twitter today and briefly posted about his loss, writing:
“#CS26 my life will never be the same”
