X Factor’s Gary Barlow promises new Take That album next year – Olympics performance confirmed
Gary Barlow has thrown a lifeline to Take That fans everywhere and revealed that he hopes to make time for a new album and tour sometime next year.
The band have been fairly quiet since they finished their ‘Progress: Live’ tour almost a year ago and ardent supporters are beginning to get a little bit impatient and desperate for new material from the X Factor judge and his pals Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and maybe…if we’re really lucky…Robbie Williams.
Gary is currently topping the charts with his Diamond Jubilee Commonwealth single ‘Sing’ and the accompanying album and during an interview on Radio 1 yesterday, was asked how he plans to ‘top’ his latest accomplishment.
“Well you know what, I always get to this point and go ‘well nothing’s going to top that’, and then something else comes along.’
“But I’ve gotta say, it’s going to take something very special to top that one.”
The dad of three was then asked about Take That’s plans and what will be next from the band. When asked if there would be a new album and tour for 2013, Barlow replied:
“Well I hope so, next year I hope, yeah.”
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Take That will be coming together a little bit sooner than 2013, as they have been booked to perform at the closing ceremony for this year’s Olympic Games in London.
The Who, George Michael and Emeli Sande will also take to the stage for the massive gig, which will take place on August 12 at London’s Olympic Park.
The show will also mark George Michael’s live comeback, following his life-threatening battle with pneumonia in 2011.
Organisers have said of his appearance: “George is a global icon and this will be a major comeback. The gig will be a fitting Olympics send-off.”
