X Factor’s Gary Barlow & Take That to perform at London Olympics 2012 closing cerem

It’s going to a big year for Gary Barlow.

Not only did he almost single handedly arrange the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and land a second year on the X Factor panel, but it seems that he and Take That are now set for even bigger and better things.

The hunky man band have been confirmed as one of the acts who will perform at this year’s Olympics closing ceremony.

The concert will go on for two and a half hours and will also feature stars such as Emeli Sandé, The Who and George Michael.

An Olympic committee source told the Daily Mirror: “It is imperative the games close in spectacular fashion and that there is substance as well as style.

“The committee wanted four major artists, representing Britain over the past 50 years, to headline.”

The boys will be in good hands too, as overseeing the whole event will be Kim Gavin, who was their very own creative director on Take That’s Circus tour.

Kim’s spokesman said: “Kim has worked with Take That before and the boys, including Robbie Williams, will put on their most dazzling show.”

Gary has been hard at work all week, as between the Diamond Jubilee arrangements, he has also spent three days in Manchester with Louis Walsh, Tulisa and guest judge Mel B at the X Factor tryouts. He tweeted:

‘It’s the last day of #XFactor auditions in Manchester ! @officialmelb you’ve been ace #ineedadayoff’

He will hit Glasgow this week and we hope he’ll get a bit of time off before bootcamp starts next month!

Take that should be something to look forward to watching on TV. Wonder if they’ll sing ‘sing’ together?
