X Factor’s James Arthur asks people to push Justice Collective to Christmas number one!
James Arthur has been very magnanimous and asked his fans to buy a copy of another act’s single this Christmas.
The X Factor winner topped the UK single charts last week with his debut release ‘Impossible’ and is currently just slightly behind The Justice Collective’s charity single in the battle for the Christmas number one this Sunday.
James saw almost 500,000 copies of his song being sold last week and the Official Charts Company confirmed on Wednesday that in just three days this week he had followed it up by shifting another 100,000 copies.
At that point it was 14,000 behind charity single ‘He Ain’t Heavy’ recorded by stars such as Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Mel C and Rebecca Ferguson, in aid of the families of victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
James used his Twitter account yesterday to ask his fans to now throw their weight behind the cause and messaged:
“Platinum single baby! Not a bad start thanks to all who bought it now make sure the hillsbrough tune is number 1!!”
“Jealousy is a weak emotion.. Learnt that in the real world where I lived for quite some time..”
Bookies William Hill have commented that they think the race for the Christmas number one this year could be the most hotly contested in over a decade.
They have made The Justice Collective their 4/11 favourite with James Arthur a 2/1 shot to deliver for the X Factor.
“The Justice Collective are in the driving seat but it is very close and a surge of X Factor sales is expected at the weekend as parents purchase their stocking fillers,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
