We knew Matt Cardle had a great vocal range but he sounds a bit like a girl in his latest offering.

The former X Factor winner has recorded a very low key and acoustic version of One Direction’s ‘That’s What Makes You Beautiful’ and while it’s really lovely, it couldn’t be more different than the original upbeat and preppy song.

Matt revealed that he was convinced to cover the track when he had had a few too many beers at a party recently….so many good ideas start that way in our experience!

Anyway, if you like the choir boy sound then you’ll love the song below…..we know many Directioners won’t be raving about it but we do like the twist the former painter and decorator put on the tune.

Matt is currently busy in rehearsals for his second post X Factor tour.

He is working hard promoting his new album ‘The Fire’ too and tweeted this morning:

“Morning people!! Last day of rehearsals today…. Cant wait for Sunday now!! Looooook out man!!…. That’s karate right there…. Xx”

He also wrote:

“Can’t believe #theFire is out 2 weeks today!! Seems only yesterday it was a work in progress….xx”

Matt’s album is due for release on October 29, 2012, on the same day as the lead single, “It’s Only Love” hits the shelves.

The album will be released on So What? recordings, after Cardle left Simon Cowell’s SYCO earlier this year.
