Nicole Scherzinger may not have decided whether she wants to return to the X Factor judging panel this year but even if she doesn’t it seems that her first series of the UK show led to her making some real friends for life.
The stunning US star mentored the boys category last year and brought her three lads Jahmene Douglas, Rylan Clark and James Arthur as far as the semi final, before Rylan was voted off and the other two advanced to the final, with James winning and his pal finishing in second place.
Perhaps because she had such a long run with them, the brunette beauty has revealed that she is still very close to all three singers and said that they stay in touch by text and phone whenever possible.
She said: ”They have genuinely amazing hearts and are like best friends – which says a lot as they’re totally different. They text me so if they need me I’m there.”
Nicole said that they all learned lessons from each other during their time on the show and she’s grateful for the time she spent with her boys. She added:
”They’re young men now. They’re grown up. I learned a lot from them and they learned a lot from me. They handled themselves very well.
”I’ve always tried to keep them level-headed and told them to stick to what’s important. I tell them, ‘Remember what you’re here for and your purpose with your music.’ ”
Nic has been keeping in touch with the boys on Twitter also, and she tweeted Douglas last week saying:
” @JahmeneDouglas Love ya sweet potato!”
She messaged Rylan:
“Love you @RylanClark It’s all about the #scherzyshine #penazzle #clubtropicana !!”
Nicole has become a big hit in the UK since she starred on the X Factor and she recently topped the British single charts with her latest track ‘Boomerang.’
She told Hello magazine that she now considers London her ‘second home’ and the only thing she doesn’t like about living in Blighty, is our awful weather. Nicole added:
”London is my second home. It’s my home away from home. I love the people, I love my work here, I love the architecture.
”But the weather? That’s the only thing I dislike. It’s mucky. It’s dreary. I understand the rain and snow, but that grey mush in the sky? It’s like, ‘What’s that? The sky’s depressed right now.’ ”
