X Factor’s Olly Murs thinks he can be the next Robbie Williams and defends Example after Brit Awards snub!
Olly Murs has admitted that he cannot wait to start his new tour with Robbie Williams.
The X Factor star was confirmed as Rob’s support act when he announced his comeback stadium tour in 2012 and Murs thinks he’s ready for the first time to take on such a huge challenge.
The Xtra Factor presenter has been nominated for two Brit Awards in tomorrow night’s ceremony and has been named in the Best British Male and Best British Single for his No 1 track.
Olly told The Daily Star that he thinks he’s finally getting his music career where he wants it to be and explained:
“This is the perfect time for me to do stadiums.
“Now I feel I can stand up there with Robbie, and I am the right guy to support him. What he said about me in the press conference to announce the tour was amazing. He said he sees a lot of me in him – and I see a lot of me in him, too.
“He always joked on The X Factor how I had no worries before I go on stage, which is true. He’s an amazing man.”
“Robbie is so funny – what you see is what you get, which is why people love him.
“He shows when he’s sad, when he’s happy and that’s what so good about him. He’s a normal guy.
“That’s why I think people see similarities between me and him.
“You always worry when you meet one of your idols they might not be what you think they are, but he is.
Robbie has also been nominated for a Brit Award for his chart topping single ‘Candy’ but one man who hasn’t been named is Changed The Way You Kissed Me hitmaker Example, aka Elliot Gleave.
Murs can’t believe his pal isn’t in the running for an award and said:
“Example deserves to be in there more than anyone as he’s been around a long time and had a great 18 months. He’s crossed over massively.
“He’s said things about me in the past on Twitter, then we met and he’s great.
“I find him hilarious – he’s a really nice guy.”
Meanwhile, it sounds like Olly had an eventful night when he went out for a meal with friends this week. He later tweeted the restaurant owner saying:
“Mr KING colin @KingSheesh123 thanks for having me over at restaurant tonight.. Sorry about the broken glass.. I’ll square you when I’m back.”
