Sam Bailey fans waiting for her debut album to be released next month are in for a bit of a treat this week, as a track featuring the X Factor winner has been previewed online.
The mum of two co-wote a track named Too Late with ska act Girls Next Door before her time on the ITV show and the song has been shared this morning.
It’s not what you’d expect.
The former prison officer was the queen of power ballads and dance numbers on the primetime singing show, however her first single was somewhat different.
Sam worked with Girls Next Door 17 years ago and Simon Cowell considered signing the group in the 90s but in the end passed on the option, because they weren’t on TV. He was all into Power Rangers, Teletubbies and Robson and Jerome back then.
It turns out that he heard the song Too Late and after expressing some interest, later decided he’d rather concentrate on his television empire.
It seems Sam’s old single could now become her new single too as the track’s producer, Clyde Ward seems set on releasing it and told The Sun:
“We expect the song to be a hit, not just because Sam is popular but because the public never stopped loving ska.”
Sam will return to the big stage this weekend, as the X Factor tour kicks off in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.
She’ll be touring the UK for the next month, before releasing her debut single and album in just a few week’s time.
Bailey could be ruling the charts by the end of March!
