X Factor’s Simon Cowell LOVES “favourite songwriter” Emeli Sande

Simon Cowell is always on the lookout for the next big thing and this week, admitted that he has his eye on Scottish singer Emeli Sande.

The X Factor boss previously threw his weight behind British singer Jessie J and reportedly tried to land her for one of his TV shows, before she accepted a role on BBC’s The Voice.

This week, he has turned his attention to the “Heaven” hitmaker and called Emeli his “favourite songwriter at the minute”.

Of course, Cowell has some links with Sande as, as well as having a number of her own hit singles under her belt, the stunning singer also writes for other artists and has previously produced songs for SYCO acts including Cher Lloyd, Susan Boyle, and Leona Lewis.

Sande admitted that she was chuffed by Cowell’s comments but revealed that she has never actually met the music mogul. She told The Daily Star:

“It’s nice to know but we have never actually met.

“I’ve had contact through his people but we haven’t actually been introduced.

“Of course I would be up for writing for him, though.”

Emeli is riding the wave of success at the minute and after her third single, “Next to Me”, was released on 6 February 2012, it peaked at number 2 in the UK single charts and at number 1 in Ireland. She has also seen her album reach number one and won the Critics’ Choice Award at the Brits.
