The One Direction lads may be globally famous, multi millionaires and rising music stars but they claim that they haven’t changed at all since their days on the X Factor.
Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson were on the red carpet in London today for the premiere of their first ever movie This Is Us and they insist that the only thing different about them now, as compared to three years ago, is the amount of facial hair they now sport.
The boys had nothing but bum fluff on their chins and upper lips when they first rose to fame and Liam laughed that their stubble is the only new thing about them this day, as he chatted to journalists on the red carpet of the event.
The ‘Little Things’ hit maker – who recently confirmed that he’s dating his old school pal Sophia Smith – told The Daily Star:
“The only thing that’s changed about us since The X Factor is facial hair”.
His comments prompted Niall Horan to prove he has some body hair, even if it’s not on his face, and he pulled up his shirt to reveal his chest fuzz to the crowd.
The area was certainly packed out with many people who appreciated the gesture and thousands of fans looked on, many of whom had camped out the night before in the hopes of getting a glimpse of their idols.
The screams were so loud when the fab fivesome did arrive, that many TV and radio shows had difficulty getting quotes and statements from the band and even Harry was shocked by the enthusiasm and the reaction and he exclaimed:
“This is unreal!”
“This is amazing. We’re really excited. We can’t believe we are here.
“This is unbelievable. The last few years have been amazing. This is what we’ve been dreaming of.”
The boys were supported by their record label boss Simon Cowell, who is the man behind putting the band together in the first place.
He has helped mastermind their career to date and walked the red carpet behind his proteges this evening. He made a few quips about his own personal scandal with the press and made reference to the fact that he is about to become a father for the first time.
Simon has managed to impregnate the wife of one of his friends and teased:
“I feel like a father [to One Direction]… but I’m not going to go down that road!”
Supersize me maker Morgan Spurlock has directed the 1D movie and attended a press conference to promote the film with the boys yesterday.
He has revealed that there will be plenty of topless scenes and insisted that it’s not just to encourage people to head to the cinema. He thinks it’s a fair representation of what normal teenagers get up to and told reporters:
“I spent a lot of time with my top off at 19 too.”
The red carpet was full of stars and joining the band at the central London cinema were their old X Factor pals JLS, McFly who recently helped write tracks for their third album, David Seaman and his Dancing On Ice girlfriend Frankie Poultney, and of course girl group Little Mix.
However, surprisingly Perrie Edwards wasn’t hanging on Zayn’s arm. Instead she stayed with her bandmates, while Malik escorted his mother on his arm into the venue.
