United We Stand closed tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent show and what an impression they made on the judges.
The London based dance crew – aged between 17-25 – told Ant and Dec before their audition:
“Ever since the announcement that the Olympics would be hosted in our town town, it has given us the inspiration and drive to push ourselves as much as we can.
We have been together for six or seven years. Some of us are accountants, surveyors, parents and when we get out on the stage we know we only have one chance to do this and we really want to impress Simon Cowell.”
On what they would do with the £500,000 prize money if they won the show they added:
“We really would like to do bigger commercial things but mainly we want a community centre. That’s really what we would use the money for.”
Dressed very plainly in black leggings and matching white t shirts, the group begin to dance and it’s a very synchronized and smooth routine. The judges have previously complained that they were fed up with street dance crews, but they saw something different in UWS, as they all seemed in awe of the group from the start.
At one point the group incorporated the BGT music into their routine, a trick which Alesha Dixon really loved.
Afterwards David Walliams admitted:
“When a dance act comes onto the stage, my heart sinks a little because I think the standard is so high. But within about a second of you dancing, I knew you were something really special. Fantastic.”
Carmen Electra added:
‘America is really known for their dance crews, but I have to say, you guys are up there with that.’
Alesha Dixon said:
‘That was so sharp and hard and precise and we could feel that energy. You have so much potential and I hope you fly through this competition. You blew me away.
Simon Cowell concluded:
“We have seen a lot of dance crews this year and I use Diversity as the template. This is about as close as I shave seen to that. It was sensational. You have massive massive potential, I like everything you stand for”
Of course the crew got four yeses and a place in the next round. Do you think the judges made the right call? Did you enjoy the routine? Leave your comments below….
