David Walliams is admitting that he “wouldn’t rule out” being in a relationship with a man while admitting that he had “gay experiences” when he was younger.
The camp Britain’s Got Talent judge spoke out about his relationship status in a new interview with Attitude magazine, admitting that he wouldn’t be against to dating a man after divorcing his wife of 5 years, Lara Stone, back in 2015.
“I wouldn’t totally rule it out [finding love with a man],” Walliams said inside the pages of the magazine, 2 years after divorcing Lara with whom he has almost 4 year old son, Alfred.
David also told the magazine that he had experiences with men when he was younger.
“I had gay experiences growing up, which I enjoyed,” he said. “I was a teen and in a lot of all-male environments.”
Walliams then confirmed what we all already knew, telling the magazine, “I am naturally very camp.”
David then went on to admit that although he’s not, he believes it would be “simpler” if he were gay.
“I’m attracted to women. Sometimes I think it would be simpler if I wasn’t because people think I’m gay and I’m camp,” the Little Britain star said. “It would just be quite easy but I do find women really, really attractive.”
David previously spoke out about his sexuality in a 2013 interview with the Radio Times, where he first admitted that he doesn’t believe who a person falls in love with should be dependant on their gender.
“I think it’s all about falling in love with the person and that is overlooked, really. I hate it when people ‘confess’ or ‘reveal’ their sexuality and also things can change for people over the years,” the actor and comedian said at the time.
“So it is about the person but I also think it goes beyond that,” David continued. “You don’t just fall in love with someone’s body, do you? You fall in love with someone’s soul and heart and brain.”
