Beth Tweddle is feeling rather emotional as she heads into the Dancing On Ice semi final tonight.
The Olympic gymnast is the title holder on the ITV show and os hoping to make it through this evening’s instalment and onto next weekend’s grand finale, but first she’ll have to hold back the tears.
For her flying routine in the penultimate show Beth will be skating (and gliding and swooping) to Reach by Gloria Estefan. She explained:
“This year I love my flying song. My song is Reach by Gloria Estefan and it was the 1986 Olympics song, so straight away it had some sir of meaning to me.”
“It reminded me of my Olympic experience and it gave me goosebumps. I just hope the people watching our final routine will feel the same feeling I got when I walked out into that arena.”
However she and her partner will be having some fun on the ice too and their second performance will be much more upbeat and energetic.
“My routine this week is meant to be a playful and fun routine. Basically the story we have come up with is two kids playing in the playground, so we have been doing leapfrogs and he’s kicking over me, [there’s] hand slapping.”
“I’m really looking forward to it. I am going to have a lot of fun with it and I hope the people at home have fun too.”
The sports star continued:
“It’s a challenging performance though. There’s a lot of performance. Playful kids, there is a lot of technical stuff, there is a brand new lift that I’ve had to turn around in three days. In my head there is so much going on. Hopefully on the night everyone really enjoys it.”
